Fred Phelps' church sued by Sony over copyright laws

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - The Rev. Fred Phelps' group known for picketing soldiers' funerals around the country has been accused by a music company of violating copyright laws.

Sony/ATV Music Publishing wrote Phelps, telling him to stop what it called unauthorized use of the song "Holding Out for a Hero."

Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church produced a parody it calls "There Are No Heroes," which is on the Internet. Phelps responded Friday in a letter to the Sony saying the video is a parody and not covered by copyright laws.

Last year, another music company accused Phelps of infringing on the song "We Are the World" with a parody it called "God Hates the World."

That's the least of WBC's worries. WBC still owes $5 million from last year's lawsuit and failed to pay their liens. The sheriff is coming to foreclose on you soon. Parody mey be a protected form of speech, but if 'Wierd' Al Yankovik has to get permission from the copywrite holder to use the MUSIC, as does Cledus T. Judd, John Bytheway and anybody else wanting to set a parody to an existing score, then so does the ****nuts Fred Phelps.

I hope Sony takes his sorry ass to the cleaners.

I have a done a lot of research of Phelps and WBC. They are a hate machine and it happens gays are their target. Members have said that if gays were gone, they will go after other people, which I have seen lately. They are not Christian, in fact they are forming their own religion. I've see the chapel and it has the banner Tachmonite prominately displayed where he spews out his vile "sermons". Phelps is very anti-Christian, as much he is towards homosexuals. He also hates Jews, Muslims, and all religions.

Phelps came from a normal family and his mother died at a young age. He has a younger sister named Martha Capron, who now lives in Pennsylvania. She is estranged from Fred and Fred hates her. She will not talk about Fred until she gets a death certificate that Fred is dead, than she will talk. Fred also threw his father and stepmother under the bus because his father was a widower and re-married a divorcee named Olive Briggs. They married until Fred's father died in 1977 and stepmother died in 1984.

Fred Phelps also violently abuses his own children and wife. Also, his children abuse their wives and grandchildren. Four of the thirteen of Phelps's children defected from WBC, Mark, Nate, Dorotha, and Katherine. All said they were abused, especially the boys. My conclusion is Fred Phelps was born bad. He started to change around 16, right after his father re-married. It made him an outspoken critic of divorce. Phelps shows a lot of personality disorders and shares many traits with other evil people.

Would it be un-Christian of me to hope that death makes peace with him?  He is an abomination and an affront to everything truly Christian.  We can see Satan at work in Phelps' ideology and methods.

Phelps is not a Christian, so it would not be un-Christian for death to make peace with Phelps. He's no different from Jim Jones. He called Christianity a "White" man's religion to oppress non-Whites. Ironically, he was the son of a Klansman. While. Phelps calls Christians "fags" and "fag-enablers" that spread "fag speak".
