Police: Campaign Worker Admits Making Up Story
MORE:  KDKA Online Voters Guide |  Campaign '08 News

A Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Ashley Todd confessed to making up the story & is facing charges
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Police sources tell KDKA that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter "B" in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.

Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."

This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.

The commander added that Todd will face charges; but police have not commented on what those charges will be.

According to police, investigators working on the interview process detected several inconsistencies in Todd's story that differed from statements made in the original police report.

Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Diane Richard released a statement earlier today, saying: "Because of the inconsistencies in her statements, Ms. Todd was asked to submit to a polygraph examination which she agreed to do."

No photos of Todd are being released by Pittsburgh Police at this time.

The investigation is continuing as officials determine what charges will be filed.

Not planned, as in she was doing this to hurt McCain.  I'm chauking it up to a over-zealous supporter being really ****ing stupid and not even beginning to think matters through.

The overwhelming majority of people haven't even heard of it, and if they do they won't make their decision based upon it.  How many people are going to go "I was going to vote for McCain, but because of this individual lied about being attacked, I've changed my mind"?  Nope, just not going to happen.  Remember, the overwhelming majority of the undecided are not like the DUmmies, they actually realize this had nothing to do with the McCain campaign, that's it's not something of which they would approve.  They'll make their decision based upon what they believe is best for their own pocketbook, and in the case of Dem nominee Il Duce, will possibly vote for the person who has promised to help but whose policies will ultimately hurt.

Will it have much of an impact on the election?  Nope.  But the DUmp is going to be serving up a lot of crow pie over this one.

Doubt if it has much life left in it at this point, nobody in particular wrongly accused or anything besides the girl herself, who will no doubt want to drop totally out of sight, so not much of anyone to interview to drumbeat it.  Glad this is breaking now instead of ten days from now.

Oh, no doubt.  Can't say that I blame them since it was a stupid thing to do.  But like everything the DUmmies do, they overreach and take events such as this to the absurd, which in turn makes them appear even more unhinged than the one(s) of whom they are trying to deride.

I dunno about the Dump serving up a lot of crow pie because a lot of us here, not to mention a lot of righty blogs were pretty skeptical about it to begin with. Of course, we all know how they like to toot their own horn (figuratively and literally  :-) )

Well, I guess I'm not voting for McCain anymore.

(That's what the left would like me to say in regards to this non-issue.)

I'll admit, I took the bait hook, line, and sinker.  I got ripshit pissed when I heard the story and went off the handle about it.  Now I get to go back and post some retractions in some things I said.

It's no worse than many of the DUmmies doing similar crap. I'm GLAD that they are contemplating charging the stupid bitch.

Well, I figured there was a possibility that it was true for one main reason. I figured no one on earth, with the exception of a DUmmie, would be stupid enough to try faking something like this with an overtly Obama supporting media around.

So to all the DUmmies who are lurking, you're not the only extremely stupid people in the world.

Yes, yes, it's all too bad, and it's too bad it affects this side.

However, there's been so many malicious falsehoods and all that spread by the Obamaites and the Obamaite primitives that this is going to get lost.

I thought as much.  the poor girl probably has issues.  I suspect that she was just looking for attention.  I snipped this from the
middle of a story . . . .

Bryant said somebody charged with making a false report would typically be cited and sent a summons. But because police have concerns about Todd's mental health, they are consulting with the Allegheny County District Attorney. She remained in custody and was awaiting arraignment.

Todd worked in New York for the College Republican National Committee before moving two weeks ago to Pennsylvania, where her duties included recruiting college students, the committee's executive director, Ethan Eilon, has said.
