At Women's Marathon, Fastest Didn't Win (this is ****ed UP).
There were over 20,000 competitors in Sunday's Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. And 24-year-old Arien O'Connell, a fifth-grade teacher from New York City, ran the fastest time of any of the women.

But she didn't win.

It doesn't get much simpler than a footrace. All it takes is a starting line, a finish line and a clock. You fire the gun and the first person to the end of the course is the winner.

However, as the marathon officials said to O'Connell - not so fast.

While O'Connell had the greatest run of her life and covered the course faster than any woman, she was told she couldn't be declared the winner because she didn't run with the "elite" group who were given a 20-minute head start.

1. Elitist decision.
It's pretty sad that they rule this way without making it clear to the other competitors ahead of time that they can't possibly win or place in the money. It's not as if she Rosie Ruiz'ed it after all.

4. That explanation about the 'elite' runners not knowing there was competition
makes sense, in a weak sort of way. However, that's the sort of thing that has to be spelled out in advance - any rational person is going to understand the concept of a race as shortest time = winner. Really, if the elite runners were willing to assume that nobody in the main pack was a threat, it's their right make that assumption, and they should bear the brunt if it's wrong.

IMO, the declared winners should voluntarily rearrange the prizes, and if they don't the race organizers have to suck it up, admit they made a mistake, call in the awards, and give them out correctly...

11. Excuse me?
I am completely confused. Really. I'd probably have a complete meltdown if I ran that far, that fast, and had the fastest time & still didn't win. That is ****ed up

Complaining about a 20 minute head start is racist.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Women's Marathon in San Francisco

For some reason, that phrase causes me to smile.

I've seen a lot of pictures of celebrations and parades in San Francisco.

Identifying which contestants were qualified for this marathon would be a challenge.

You reminded me of a joke.

A young woman comes home from college. While in college, she was introduced to the world of Liberalism. She decided to engage her very conservative father in political debate. She goes on and on about the woes of capitalism and how Conservative are the most evil beings on earth.

The father decides to change the subject by asking, "So how are your grades?"

"Oh! I'm holding down a 4.0." says the daughter. "It's not easy. I am studying all the time and I have no time for a social life."

"Really?' says the father. "How is your roommate Janet doing?"

"OMG! She is like partying every night, getting drunk and coming back to the dorm late or sometimes not at all. I think she may have a 2.0 GPA"

"Well then," says the father. "Why don't you give one  of your grade points to Janet? That way you both will be getting a 3.0?"

The daughter is instanly angry, "What!? That's not fair! I worked hard for my grades! I sacrificed my social life and my friends to get where I am. Janet hasn't done anything to earn a 3.0! Why should I give her anything!?"

To which the father replies, "My dear...Welcome to the Republican Party."

Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

If any of the DUchebags had the brain power of a LED, they would make the cognitive jump.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

  • Yes, everything you heard about me is true
And not a one of them would have a clue about how ironic that is unless they read it here being said by us. Well, even then they wouldnt acknowledge it. You can tell a lib the truth but you cant make them understand it.

Sounds like they're safe from any startling insights, then.
