My daughter won 1st place in the fire safety poster contest!

We got a message on our answering machine from her kindergarten teacher that she had won a prize.  My wife took the kids down to the fire station last night (I was at work, unfortunately) for the prize presentation and found out she had won 1st place!  She won $15 and she and her brother got to ride around in one of the fire trucks with lights and sirens and everything.  They were really stoked about it.  Still are, in fact.  I think her poster also gets put into a calendar.  How awesome is that?

I'll take a pic of the poster and put it up soon.  It's too big to scan.

Very cool!  Congrats to her.  And heck, Iwould be stoked to ride in a fire truck with lights and sirens going!!

(Poster edges look wonky cuz I had to shoot it at an angle to keep the flash from reflecting off it so much.)

What are the things coming out of the top of the houses.....Solar Panels?

I look forward to seeing it in national posters or something.

It has that real kid look and says what you need to do (us grown ups, too!).

Those are the tin foil deflectors on the local troofers houses.  :-)

They're chimneys, you boobs.  Haven't you ever seen really young kids draw chimneys on houses before?
