Teacher's Aid tells my first grader "If Obama wins, your dad will lose his job"
The first graders were working on a book about President's when the Teacher's Aid, a roughneck's wife, spouts this little bit of wisdom to my seven year old. I am considering calling the Principal and having a few words, or just drinking a beer and letting them squirm on election night. Still, it kind of pisses me off.

Seven years old and in the first grade?
Been a long time but I was 5 turned to 6 in the first grade.

A book about Presidents in the first grade??

This seems like a complete lie by someone that thinks they know of things.

Close, but not quite.  I am married to a conservative college instructor, and his oldest is in school to become a conservative school teacher (though she'll probably work in a Christian school.)  Then there is Mike Adams.  They do exist.  Really!!

Who says Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny don't exist?

It just the sightings are so rare as to be almost mythical.

(/recovery)

On thinking a bit -- I should have said STUPID and IRRESPONSIBLE Conservative Teachers (as suggest ed in the OP) -- those should be too few to count.

My 3rd grader is staying after school tody to make election posters to hang in the school (he's the class representative for student council...go figure).  I had a talk with him this morning about appropriate things....told him he had to be neutral with WHATEVER he put on the poster, and not to put his own opinions.  These are general "Get out and vote" type things about various local issues.

I'll be curious to hear how it all went when he gets home!

Conservative school teachers exist....they just don't advertise that they are! Not a popular thing to be in a public school as you might have guessed!

It is different today.   Around here, most 1st graders are 7.   The kids go to 2 or 3 years of preschool, starting at age 3.    They go to the 3 year old class, the 4 year old class, pre-K at age 5 and then kindergarten at age 6.   Kindergarten is the new 1st grade, and is much more academic than back in the olden when I was in kindy.    The kids are 18 in their senior year of HS and 19 when they go off to college.

This is true.  My dad was a conservative school teacher for over 20 years.  He kept his political views mostly to himself.   He didn't keep his values quiet though.   He had more than one run in with the union and with the administration.   The fact that for most of those years he was teaching high school ROTC, didn't help his popularity with some.
