Indenturedebtor (1000+ posts) Tue Oct-21-08 08:07 PMOriginal message Some happy news on the personal economy front WOOHOO I was let go from my sales job 2 months ago and we've gotten far enough behind on everything that we can't possibly catch up to pay everything off. We've been worried that we wouldn't qualify for bankruptcy under the new laws... turns out that after three months we'll squeek into a chapter 7 by about 40 dollars a month. We're going to lose the house but at least we won't be Indentured Debtors anymore! So that's a big plus.AND! I start my new job next Tuesday! I finally get to get out of sales, and I'll be working towards a real career in project management Just wanted to provide one example that there are jobs out there and even though I got lucky, I have real hope again for our future prospects. Without the bankruptcy we'd still be screwed but hopefully we'll be able to save money for the first time in our lives.

I thought after that founding member of the DUmp philosophy (Castro) was dead we were going to use the "Great Peoples Socialist homeland Cuba" as the new debtors prison. :-)

Well it hasn't gone through yet, but the lawyers assure me that it will TONS OF HOOPS!I had to put off this new job and be slow returning paperwork etc for 1.5 months... my wife had to cut back working hours... we had to borrow a couple grand from my folks to pay for it, etc.Bush made it damn near impossible to go CH 7. They don't even look at debt to income anymore, only whether or not you've earned less than the median income for 6 months. If you're off by a dollar you're ****ed.So we're going to JUST slide in there!
