When ad men go wild

For some other product, not a bad ad but it is just the most pompous and overblown way ever to advertise a supermarket .

Wow--I'd never shop there based on that ad alone.

I can't quite tell if it is over the top on purpose, like a self-parody.  But the fact that I can't tell means they failed.

I don't think it is parody, Waitrose has a middle class target market and I am horribly afraid they thought this would get the punters flocking in.

It doesn't look much different from the over-produced saccharine ads that show up around Christmastime.  I'm guessing Waitrose isn't exactly Tesco.
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Looks like a bad Italian Garden ad. I'm surprised there weren't more fuzzy puppies and kittens involved.

Concerning said commercial. It got your attention. Not only did it grab your attention it got you talking about it on a msg board. Some astute Ad man/woman/he-she-it did their job quite well wouldn't you say.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

I shop at Waitrose because there is a branch near my house, I suppose the cringe quotient was high enough for me to comment about it here, but I don't think the intention of the ad was to make me feel vaguely embarrassed at the thought of shopping there.
