All the Lights are ON! Mr Mannn's Nightmare.
« on: October 19, 2008, 12:35:55 AM »
OK so I'm in this castle. its all dark and ghosts are flitting about. I have a torch and a sword. these dead things are surrounding me. They are just outside the edge of my light.  I can barely see them, just a wisp of cloth at first and then. boldly they come closer. They are the upper torsos of skeletons dressed in rotting death shrouds, they have no legs and so they are flying.

Somehow I know that if they touch me they will feed off my life force (convenient that my dream provides me this information). Then they attack! I fight them off with sword and flame. They burst on fire with a torch hit.
Soon they are dead (again), heaps of burning refuse in the darkened castle.

But I know I'm not alone. There is a gasp of air like a death rattle, and the fires go out-even my torch. Only embers light the room now. Something blacker than the black of night moves through a closed door towards me. its huge.
"Steven" it breathes in a whisper.

Its scary enough to wake me up. And its still dark. So off fling the covers and on go the lights.

Everyone calls me Steve. Only my mother or father would use "Steven" and then they were mad at the time. What was scary was the intimate knowledge this black thing seemed to have.

I've only been asleep for two hours. and now I'm up for a while. I didn't even have a late dinner. Oh well, I'll find out who's up on Saturday night .

If you are going to stay up all night you might want to think about turning that into a short story, I'm quite interested to see how that would have turned out. :)

I hate nightmares, which is probably why I also hate Horror movies!

Hope you got back to sleep before too much time passed.

Dreams always fascinate me.  It always amazes me that I am me in my dreams but am yet willing to accept things that would freak me out in RL.

I once had a dream where I actually lived a few weeks -- I slept and dreamt in my dream! It ended with me not being able to find my apartment -- the building (one I have never seen in RL) was there but my apartment no longer existed.  At the end of the dream I thought I must be dreaming, so I hit a telephone pole as hard as I could and hurt my hand!  I finally was seriously thinking abut jumping in front of a truck but was afraid that it might NOT be a dream.  Thank God I woke up.

That is what I call a scary dream.

The scariest dreams are the ones that don't jump around, things happen just like IRL - except they're weird.  My scariest as an adult...I was riding in something, perhaps a horse-drawn wagon, because it was all open around me.  I was on a seat, sitting somewhat sideways, with a bible tucked between the back of the seat and my leg.  I was passing under a light, and there was someone speaking - like over a loudspeaker - but I couldn't understand the words.  Then my vehicle passed into the darkness beyond the light - and I could feel the forward motion, the rocking, the breeze, etc.  I could see the light getting farther away and the voice was fading as I traveled away from it. Suddenly, my vehicle went over the edge of a cliff and I began to fall.  The breeze that I'd felt turned into rushing wind going up past me as I plunged into total darkness, and I twisted around to watch the light dwindle and grabbed for the bible...and woke up.

I don't usually remember my dreams.  My bad dreams always consist of either cockroaches, tornadoes or a tooth falling out.

Though a couple of weeks ago I had a dream where my cat, Monty, went missing.  It jolted me awake and I was filled with sadness.  Monty was laying right next to me.  As a good friend said after I told him about the dream, Monty was playing Kitty Jedi mind tricks on me.

Cats will do that.
