Got a question. Has anybody here ever turned on the stove and forgot there was some tupperware in it? :rotf:

I did that with one of the electic burners.  Set my Tupperware bowl on it... I've never seen anything melt that fast.

I once tossed an Arby's roast beef sandwich in a microwave with the wrapper still on it. Nice light show until the flames started up.  :uhsure:

Not Tupperware...but I keep my cast iron skillet in the oven and have been known to leave turners in it and melt the handles all over everything.  :(

I'm actually afraid to use it to cook anything now.When I turn it on smoke starts billowong out of it. Anybody know an easy way to clean it?

I have the same problem.  I have two good ones.  The other two set off my smoke alarm.  I haven't tried to clean them with anything yet.  Maybe some oven cleaner if I ever get around to it.

Just call me Oscar Madison.

I also keep my cast iron skillet in the oven and have done the same thing.

When I bake cookies after I wash the baking sheets I set them to dry in the oven, I usually end up forgetting they're in there.   :whatever:

Mrs. Tantal once bought a pre-cooked whole chicken from the Target deli. She put it in the oven to warm it up, but failed to take it out of the plastic container it comes in. I still give her shit about it.

Done it with the oven a few times as I store things in there at times and then forget they're there when preheating the oven.

I just wait until it had cooled back to ambient temperature and then scrape the plastic residue off.

Shifted pan to back burner.
Set plastic cutting board on front burner.
Started cutting bacon.
Smelled something.
PLASTIC Cutting board warped into shape of burner.
Pried the f (*& thing off for 20 minutes.

Back when I had a roommate, there were a few times when we were going to have company over and we hadn't washed the dishes.  Not wanting to leave the kitchen a mess, but being too lazy to actually wash said dishes, we threw them in the oven.

On at least one occasion, we left some tupperware thingamabob in there by accident when emptying out said dishes.  Then we'd go to preheat the oven later, and there'd be a nasty smell and we'd know we didn't do a good enough job cleaning out the oven.

Just let the oven cool completely, scrape out all the melted plastic you can see, and use whatever type of oven cleaner works on your oven.  The upside is that you'll have a very clean oven afterwards.
