Murtha: Western Pa. 'racist' but Obama should win

PITTSBURGH (AP) - U.S. Rep. John Murtha says his home base of western Pennsylvania is racist and that could reduce Barack Obama's victory margin in the state by 4 percentage points.
The 17-term Democratic congressman tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site that, as he put it: "There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area."

He says it's taken time for many Pennsylvania voters to come around to liking Obama, but he should still win the state, though not in a runaway.

In a separate interview posted Wednesday on the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Web site, Murtha says Obama has a problem with the race issue in western Pennsylvania that could shave 4 points off his lead in the state.

It won't matter.  His constituents are all FDR-era 'Rats who still think that the JFK type of Democrat is still around.  Between that and his bringing home hundreds of millions of pork to a very economically depressed area, and this guy is like most other 'Rats--mini-dictators for life.

Murtha has apologized, but it's only because he's been slammed for calling his voters racists then expecting them to go vote for him again. Murtha is 78 himself but has claimed McCain was too old for office. Mirror.

He would have been DESTROYED on the night after his "Racist PA" comment. Ive had the pleasure of working with a few Western PA folks in the past, and the one thing they have in common is they are a "take no crap" kind of people.Well that and a dialect that leaves me, A typical sounding yankee, scared and confused...  :tongue:
