I am only tossing the zogby poll into the forums today because one of two things have happened.  either mccain has
merely stumbled, which is possibly recoverable, or his numbers have collapsed nationwide, which is not recoverable.  this
poll suggests that it's the former.  interesting that it's this close, since zogby has mccain getting clobbered among independents
48 to 39%.

Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby Poll:  Obama 47%, McCain 45%

UTICA, New York - The race for President of the United States remains far too close to call between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain as both candidates head toward the finish line, a recent Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking telephone polls shows.

The survey, including a three-day sample of 1,220 likely voters collected over the previous three days - approximately 400 per day from Oct. 5-7, 2008 - shows that Obama holds a slight advantage amounting to 1.9 percentage points over McCain. This represents a bit of a recovery by McCain, who had been sliding in some polls before his running mate, Sarah Palin, put in a strong performance in her one and only debate performance last Thursday.

The Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll, was conducted before Tuesday's Obama-McCain debate. It was performed by live telephone operators in Zogby's in-house call center in Upstate New York, included a total of 1,220 likely voters nationwide, and carries a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points.

So that doesn't even factor in the debate.  Will be interesting to see the polls in a day or two.

democrats have been oversampled 2 to 3 in almost all polls.

Unless the messiahfuhrer has +10 going into Election Day he will lose.

Which he won't and this will.

Polls rely on telephones, there has been a huge change in who has and who uses them since 2000 in particular.  In some ways they oversample Dems, in some ways there are large segments of the Dems they don't hit at all, i.e. younger cell-only phone users.  I really have no confidence in them at all, positive OR negative.

I have never been polled in my life.  I often wonder who is sampled.

The only time I have ever been polled was a poll by Planned Parenthood.  I hung up on them "mid-polling".

They have attempted to poll me.  But I have caller ID and I use it.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

you either didn't read this thread, or don't read many other threads.  or you don't realize that this is a political discussion board, and we like to discuss politics here.

Yes, in vast numbers, and for all sorts of different reasons.  The question is just how that breaks out demographically, and just how much of a moving picture that is, all of which appears to be terra incognita.

And anybody that gives a BS to everybody in a thread deserves one back from each of them.  Just sayin'.
