Just heard the republicans are leaving the country if Obama is elected??
Got back from the store.. I am not even sure how to explain this, but a couple of women in front of me, were talking, real righties, .. one was talking about moving to Australia if Obama was elected.

Now when in the world did Australia become a conservative haven.

I remember that a number of democrats considered moving to Canada when bush got re-elected.

But Australia?

Maybe I should have offered to help her out with some free frequent flyer miles from one of my family member

Australia??

44. No. A country without republicans is like Canada.
Gimmee some o that universal health/child care like they have north of the border any day.

You know what?

We could have it all down here as well if only the greediest, most selfish, self centered, self righteous, self loathing, meanest part of the U.S. population would get lost or at least SHUT THE HELL UP for a minute and quit whining about having to pay their ****ing taxes. (damn babies)

A political party by and for the dirtiest pigs in the country.

30. No, no. Afghanistan!
Plenty of caves there! It would be lovely for them! No Old Europe and its luxuries for them! No, no, no! Caves and no toilets are best for these Neanderthals (and I am demeaning Neanderthals, sorry).

They all oughta be strung up!!!

14. I heard the same thing at a real estate deal last week.
This took place in southern Mississippi. The topic of taxes came-up during the paperwork process, and the selling couple remarked that they were moving to Canada or Montana if Obama wins. I bit my lip (wanting absolutely no kinks in the deal), but it made me smile on the inside to hear such fear and despair from those rednecks..

16. Maybe they meant "Austria"
Many conservatives in this country aren't exactly up-to-date on all those foreign names. Austria is having a resurgence of right wing activity these days. I'll bet they heard Rush promoting vacation packages to the Fatherland or something.

29. I don't want the GOP to go
for a few reasons (and remember that Democrats said the same in 2000):

1. The South after Reconstruction (and prior to the Civil War, for that matter) showed what happens when there is a one-party regime. Minorities lose their civil rights, the oligarchy seizes control of the state, and intellect, progress, and economy are stunted.

2. This, our United States, is only a viable society with vigorous, healthy debate. This includes disagreements with our GOP brethren. If they quit on the USA, then they didn't deserve its favor in the first place and they're saying, in effect, that they place their own hurt feelings above the republic.

35. "healthy" debate, you said
I seem to be missing the "healthy" part in all the smears, lies, and more lies coming form the Repugs.
If they all disappear from this country, we will still have plenty of other viewpoints to debate.

PETA comes to mind.

40. I completely disagree with you
I cannot remember the last time I heard the modern flavor of Conservatism add anything useful to the debate at all. Anti-intellectualism is a hallmark of the Republican Party after all. What arguments do they put forward that have a valid place in reasoned debate? Racism is not a viable argument. Religion based intolerance isn't either. Blindly deregulating everything is a now proven fiasco. They argue for a smaller government but it is clear that since Reagan they don't mean a word of that either, even if you accept it as a sane position.

So, what voice is it you are concerned we might lose?

49. You haven't been here long
If you want a vigorous, healthy debate, just put a bunch of Democrats in a room together. Repugs all agree and toes the same line, while Democrats draw their own.

Classic example of projectionism.  Kooks like tkmorris were done a huge disservice when someone falsely told them their intellect was anywhere in the same universe as reason and logic.  So many of them rightly have earned the name DUmmies.

From the democrat dictionary.

Healthy debate: large worms ...as in .....day-bait day hook with worms.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Yeesh.

While I Love my country, it does have it's issues with rampant leftism especially in the big cites.

Take the draconian firearms laws, a judicial system that is unable or unwilling to harshly deal with offenders and "duty to retreat" rather than a "Castle Defense" for a entree.

We can then add (C)Rudd's insanity when it comes to foreign policy, environment, and industrial relations for a main course.

For desert we can serve up the utterly corrupt and incompetent welfare, health care and education system as exists today.

Liberals would probably like it. Conservatives, not so much.

Hey, if any of you can't stand your liberal neighbors, come to Kansas.  (Or Nebraska, I'm sure frank will agree with that.)  We need more conservatives, it's a great place to live, and it'll give the DUmmies reason to write more books...("Now What's the Matter With Kansas")   :-)
