The hatred ramps up around election time anyway, but this year seems to be even a little worse.  I think Bijou said it best (paraphrasing), that I never thought their hatred for W could be topped, but they seem to have gotten even more hateful with Sarah Palin.

While that is true in smaller cities, it just might not be the case in, say, NYC, DC, LA, or SF.

The minimum load for an infantry soldier in full combat gear is 210. That might last you all of between 10 to 30 minutes depending on how deep it gets.  When I was in Italy guarding Nukes each of us had 210 rounds and a footlocker filled with another 5,000 of 5.56mm . Now that is how you prepare for the zombie apocolypse

These are bare-bones minimum numbers. You must check the DUmmie-saturation in your particular area and modify your equipment accordingly. Also, you must determine your intent. If your plan is to hunker down in one place and protect the family, you may be able to go with the minimum. If you're like me and intend to wait until nightfall, then stalk, ambush, and slaughter the DUmmies like the vermin that they are, you may need more.

All I want to be able to do is to get out of the city.  I live in a fairly "red" area, just work in a "blue" one.  I have thought about getting a .45-70 as well, because the first one that gets hit wouldn't stop the round.  What I didn't tell my cousin is that I've also got a .30-06 and a .308, and various .22 LR handguns (with over 1000 .22 LR rounds).  I just want to be able to get out of the city.  (There's also a .38 Special handgun with 650 rounds.)

I'd love to have a Martini-Henry, but a phased plasma rifle in the 40-Megawatt range is the tits for an actual fight (failing that, while I'm dreaming, a paratrooper folder conversion for my FAL and a pickup full of AT4s would do nicely...)
