Obama Over 50 Percent In Florida, Ohio
« on: October 01, 2008, 10:32:35 AM »
Quote
FLORIDA: Obama 49 - McCain 43 pre-debate; Obama 51 - McCain 43 post-debate; OHIO: Obama 49 - McCain 42 pre-debate; Obama 50 - McCain 42 post-debate; PENNSYLVANIA: Obama 49 - McCain 43 pre-debate; Obama 54 - McCain 39 post-debate Friday's presidential debate, Gov. Sarah Palin's sagging favorability and more voter confidence in Sen. Barack Obama's ability to handle the economy are propelling the Democrat to wider likely voter leads over Republican John McCain in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to simultaneous Quinnipiac University Swing State polls released today.

No one has been elected President since 1960 without taking two of these three largest swing states in the Electoral College. Results from the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe- ack) University polls conducted before and after the debate show:
Florida: Obama up 49 - 43 percent pre-debate and 51 - 43 percent post-debate;
Ohio: Obama up 49 - 42 percent pre-debate and 50 - 42 percent post-debate;
Pennsylvania: Obama ahead 49 - 43 percent pre-debate and 54 - 39 percent post-debate. Pre-debate surveys ended at 8 p.m. Friday with post-debate surveys Saturday-Monday.

More than 84 percent of voters in each state say the debate did not change their mind. But by margins of 13 to 17 percent, voters in each state say Obama did a better job in the debate. And by margins of 15 to 27 percent, independent voters in each state say Obama won.

"It is difficult to find a modern competitive presidential race that has swung so dramatically, so quickly and so sharply this late in the campaign. In the last 20 days, Sen. Barack Obama has gone from seven points down to eight points up in Florida, while widening his leads to eight points in Ohio and 15 points in Pennsylvania," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

"Sen. John McCain has his work cut out for him if he is to win the presidency and there does not appear to be a role model for such a comeback in the last half century," Brown added.

"Sen. McCain's problem is not with this or that demographic group. Although he still leads among white men, albeit by a smaller margin, his problems are across the electorate.

"Sen. Obama clearly won the debate, voters say. Their opinion of Gov. Sarah Palin has gone south and the Wall Street meltdown has been a dagger to McCain's political heart. Roughly a third of voters, and almost as large a share of the key independent vote, say McCain did more harm than good in trying to resolve the financial crisis, and the share of voters who see the economy as the top issue has risen from roughly half to six in ten."

Not to mention that this is about the time that the media Propaganda Ministry polls start REALLY oversampling Democrats, Marxists, Socialists, Communists, Anarchists etc... in order to show huge numbers in favor of their candy-date and thereby supress the vote turnout for the Rethugs' sacrificial victim.

At least that's how they think it's supposed to work.

I agree completely, the Q poll as I recall has always been to the left of reality.

Well, the shit never GETS to teh Obamessiah, because he's got the entire Democrat Propaganda Ministry acting as human shields, and thousands of campaign disciples willing to make human wave runs through all the minefields His Holiness has laid, in order to clear the way for their Lord.

I am extremely concerned, simply because of what is at stake in this election.  Presidents are only around for four or eight years, but the judges they appoint are around a lot longer than that.  We have an idea the kind of judges McCain will appoint.  Can you imagine the kind people Obama will appoint?

Also remember.  Carter brought us Reagan.
"To those who cite the First Amendment as reason for excluding God from more and more of our institutions and everyday life, may I just say: The First Amendment of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this country from religious values; it was written to protect religious values from government tyranny."
"If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under." - Ronald Reagan

these guys are smart.  they aren't blowing themselves to hell like the dem candidate usually does.  just the most recent artifact of that, they "hid" what will be their worst debate on a friday night when no one was home to see it, except the truly motivated.

he's getting a huge assist from the MSM in not checking out a thing about his background, or his ties and associations, or so much as mentioning the 180 he has done on every relevant issue since the primaries, but this an intelligently run campaign thus far.

They're trying to mess with our heads. I refuse to become a slave to inane daily polling, you all should too. I am convinced that America has not lost her mind to the extent the polls suggest.

That's not to say that I am not praying A LOT for our country right now.

the mccain campaign responded to these silly quinnipiac polls (which is a little unusual):

Quote
McCain pushback on Florida polls: “Our polling shows us up 7. My guess is they over sampled blacks and under sampled Cubans.

McCain pushback on Q-polls: “These polls are laughable. We hope Obama thinks they’re true. The national tracking is clear: Some polls have us down 2 percent, some 4, some as high as 6. How could you have national numbers like that, but have those kinds of numbers in three of the largest, most competitive states in the country? These states are bellwethers because they closely mirror national demographics. Given the volume of campaigning in those states, we expect that they are close to the national track – if not tighter.”

I heard that McCain just let out a big old fart, did the polls suggest that was a good or not so good move on his part?

Where in Ohio exactly? I mean even though this really is totally irrelevant. 6 MORE McCain signs to 1 Obama went up in my neighborhood after the debate(and I'm just counting this little circle of homes we live in, not the other neighborhoods).

I am still amazed that your average person, if this is true, is willing to elect a man neck deep in the debacle(and buddies with some of the primary players in failing companies) to office to run the whole show versus someone who has been on board for making changes to some of the regulations that allowed this at least in 2003 and I think before then too. McCain certainly isn't perfect. Lord knows I have my gripes with him but I certainly trust him infinitely more then any member of the Congressional 'strongarm' caucus

no, but there is a story out there saying that he threw a temper tantrum in des moines today. :whatever:

actually, both polls are relatively good news.  the margin closed by a point in gallup, and remained unchanged in rassmussen.

McCain is and always was a hothead. He seems to have mellowed some in the last decade though.

I feel that they are for two reasons

a) most pollsters are in the tank for Obama - maybe not the company itself, but its workers. Working and skewing polls and getting paid for it is a Democrat's wettest dream.

b) Obama should be up at least 15 points by now - maybe closing in on 20. The fact that the polls still average 5 point Obama advantage nationally is a great sign..

The thing that concerns me is voter fraud. There will be more fraud than we have ever witnessed before - that is a guarantee.

well, I my first thought was that the MSM was reinforcing the obama campaign's "mccain is unstable because of all the stuff they did to him while he was a POW" meme . . . .

I know several of you don't think the Obamassiah will win, but so far I'm still lean towards saying that he will.  Phil Gramm is right, America has become a nation of whiners and they want someone to hold their hand.  They're not listening to what this little communist is saying, they just hear "change" and "hope" and to them that means Mommy and Daddy will change their diaper, give them a bottle, and rock them to sleep.  Yes, I'm still betting a majority are that stupid.  The main advantage we have as conservatives is that we know the train wreck that will happen and can prepare for it.
