Just called 911 on an asshole trying to intimidate me on the road
He came up behind me and tailgated me for a couple miles. He kept getting closer and closer to my bumper and at two different red lights, he inched so close to me that I thought he was going to hit me. I went exactly the speed limit the whole time. Finally, he sped around me, honked and yelled "asshole!" at me.

So I called 911 and gave the dispatcher a description of his car and tag number. She asked if I felt threatened and I said yes, definitely. She said she had an officer in the area and would alert him.

I have several bumper stickers on my car.

Yes, he was an asshole, and yes, he may have been harassing you due to your bumper stickers. But since he had already gone around you and sped away, do I think for a second that you believed you were in danger? No, I don't. 911 calls should be made in emergencies only.

And on edit: If you thought you were in such danger, why did you let him tailgate you for several miles, sit behind you at two red lights, and wait until after he passed you to call 911?

 And there were cars parked along the street. It wouldn't have been safe to pull over. Besides, I was going exactly the speed limit in a city where cops are well known for pulling you over if you go even a couple miles over. It's a low crime suburb. Nothing but traffic offenses for cops to be involved in.

There was no reason for him to be on my bumper for the length of time he was unless he was trying to intimidate me. Especially the way he inched up at me at the lights. I wasn't doing anything wrong. He was just an asshole.

 Road rage is so prevalent in NC, especially if you are Blue Inspired! Sorry you had such a scare on what should have been a great day for you. I remember in 2004 I came home from registering voters at the Catawba Co. Fair at the Democratic booth and when I told my BIL where I'd been and what I'd been doing he shot off his assault rifle behind my house all afternoon. I literally laid on the floor so he couldn't get me 'accidentally on purpose'. He ruined two tires on our car that week! Anyway, you are brave and I'm glad you called the police and reported him. If it was my BIL, I hope the throw his ass in jail! Congratulations on Obama taking the lead in the polls there today! That's a pretty good present! Chin up, hon. I agree with OMC.  I had a driver ride my bumper flashing his lights over and over and honking.  I called 911 right away.  (It was for no reason.  I was getting on to a highway and he stayed behind me a long time while he could have easily gone around)  I gave a license plate and description of the vehicle.  I don't know if anything happened, but I was so freaked out and the operator stayed on the line with me the entire time I drove home.

If you're really scared, you call 911 right away, not afterwards. 


But then again this probably never happened anyways.  *shrug*

So, I was really stoned on the way home from the bar last night and drove at 30mph under the limit all the way, stopping at every traffic light wether they were red or not (just to be on the safe side).

Some reichwing thug in a huge SUV belching smoke with seal skin head lamp covers behind me kept honking his horn, flashing his lights and telling me to pull over, but I could see a cop hiding behind the bushes so didn't stop or they'd have dragged me off to gitmo for ever and ever.

The reichwing thug eventually pulled off on a exit and was waving his hand at me.

I guess reading my bumper stickers will have educated him, and he'll vote for Obama in the election NOW !!11!
