A Cover You Liked Better Than The Original

Is there a song or songs that someone covered where you wound up liking the cover version better than the original?

Here's on of mine:

"Love Hurts", I like the Nazareth version better than the Everly Brothers Version. Hell I like Roy Orbisons cover better than the Everly brothers version. Even Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris did a better version.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Britney did a remix of that song, kind of a blues mix I thought was pretty good.

Did not know that, may be worth looking for it. It's really not such a bad song though the original is not really a kind of music I like. (at all, lol)

Shinedown's version of "Simple Man".
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

You want some strange interesting covers. Go to youtube and search for "Hayseed Dixie". Bluegrass covers of songs by Metallica , Areosmith , Led Zepplin. AC/DC , Black Sabbath etc etc...

Now I love NIN so it was hard to admit this, but we did the Johnny Cash version of it at my bil's funeral and I really love the remake.

I had never heard "Hurt" before Johnny Cash's cover. Thinking that the original might be better, I listened to the NIN version.  I have to agree, that Cash's is done with more feeling.

I know it is sacrilege, but GFR's live cover of "Gimme Shelter" was better than The Stones'.

For that matter, GFR's "Locomotion" was better than the original.

How about a song written and recorded by someone and the song didn't go anywhere. The song writer got in a pinch for cash, sold the rights to the song, The song is recorded by someone else and is a hit. Later on the songwriter is a recording artist in their own right and rerecords the song and it's a hit.   Crazy isn't it.
