70's Sunday
« on: September 28, 2008, 08:25:19 AM »
I thought I'd combine a day thread (unseasonably hot and sunny here) with a walk down Memory Lane.  So post your favorite cheesey songs here, enough with the good taste let's celebrate 70's pop.

This certainly was an interesting day in history.  Today? Not so much.

The world fails to end for a Borneo doomsday cult based in Sabah, after authorities arrest nearly 200 members, more than 50 of whom are children. The armed group was garbed in yellow robes and intended to perform a human sacrifice before the End Time.

Those first two weren't just cheesy, I think I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw them.

And Wild Cherry?  Really?  Maybe that's just a guilty pleasure of mine--that and the camel toe from the original album cover...

Another 70's "guilty pleasure"...but it DOES have a kickass bass line...

Eh, not entirely.  You just had to look a little harder.  Some of the great stuff from the Stones came out then, not to mention Rush, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Frampton, Zepplin...you get the picture.

I was just teasing, most of my music collection comes from that era it's fun to look at the dark side of the decade sometimes though.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

The sixties and seventies had a large sub genre of death related songs so not surprising they'd come to the fore, also popular were lyrics centred around telephoning other people.
