Anyone watch the new show The Mentalist?
« on: September 25, 2008, 07:52:28 PM »
I recorded it the other night and just watched it.  I really enjoyed it.

Quote
Here is a little information about it from the website:

THE MENTALIST stars Golden Globe Award nominee Simon Baker as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation. Within the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his blatant lack of protocol and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, whose paranormal abilities he now admits he feigned. Jane's role in cracking a series of tough high-profile cases is greatly valued by his fellow agents. However, no-nonsense Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon openly resists having Jane in her unit and alternates between reluctantly acknowledging Jane's usefulness and blasting him for his theatrics, narcissism and dangerous lack of boundaries. Lisbon's team includes agents Kimball Cho, Wayne Rigsby and rookie member Grace Van Pelt, who all think Jane's a loose cannon but admire his charm and knack for clearing cases.

I watched it too.  It had some really good twists.  I had NO idea who did it until he busted that person!  I love great TV.  Plus it is on after NCIS one of my all time favorites! :hyper:

I knew who did it when he looked at the guy really weird in the beginning.  I always figure out "who did it" on these types of shows.  I am that brilliant.   :p

The premise is a knock off from Psyche.

I refuse to watch.

I thought so too at first freedumb.  It isn't anything like Psych at all.  Psych is in my top 10 all time favorite shows.

How do you peeps find time for tv? I have the 2nd season of Dexter sitting here and have only got through 2 shows in 10 days and that's the ONLY tv I've watched in 10 days.  :bawl:I figure at this rate, I'll finish watching season 2 by the time season 3 finishes up and I'll be good to go for that. :lmao:

I only watch TV at night.  The kids have to be either in bed or downstairs (depending on what day it is) by 8-9pm.  Then I watch tv for 2 hours.  With On Demand and DVD I don't have to wait through commercials or credits so you can watch a lot more in that amount of time.

LOL I usually watch one show a night and I have a DVR so I can record and watch anytime I want (and skip the ads).  Also, I'm not working or going to school like you!

I am currently quite fond of the Ghost Whisperer which is running on 2 different channels over here, I keep forgetting when it is on so I end up watching a mixed bag of seasons in pretty much a random order.

Both Psych and The Mentalist sound good, although mentalist does mean something slightly different over here.

I'm lucky .... I'm an empty nester and I knit.  That means I get to sit and watch TV if I want and feel constructive because I'm creating something at the same time. :-)  ..ok, so what if my house doesn't get cleaned

LOVE Psych.  The Mentalist did remind me of Psych a bit, obviously the big difference is drama vs comedy.  I still enjoyed it, but if he keeps wandering around with that lalaland half smile on his face, he's going to irritate the hell out of me.  I hope he tries some new facial expressions.  It's great to have NCIS back from rerunland ... and Criminal Minds.  Coming up is Numbers and CSI  :yahoo:  Also, I've noticed that The Unit is going to be back after all .... oh happydance!

I know...BEG is right, I'm going to school, doing volunteer work here, and I work out about 2 hours a day...not to mention homework, chores, etc. It does add up. Even during my break I found myself just working out more cause it relieves stress big time for me.

I do miss some shows though or have interest in some new ones. Like I said, I have Dexter season 2 I'm working on. Love.that.show! Now I'll add these to my list..maybe they'll come out on dvd too and I can manage to watch them.

I do miss having that time to sit down like you do and craft in some way while I watch tv. i used to cross stitch and scrapbook.

I watched The Mentalist when it reran on Friday night...didn't think I would like it but I did.

So far....I'm liking the returns of my favorites....just wish that some weren't at the same time.

The Unit was on Sunday night and I thought it was really good, and much better than it had been.

I'm not only an empty nester...but work from home, so I have the TV on all the time during the day. Can't work to music, but TV can be "white noise" for me.

Now...if I could just get on the treadmill........ :thatsright:
