I lie to my mom a lot.

Well, not neccesarily lie. Just extend the truth. Or omit details. Like, I'm going to a burlesque workshop tonight. It's about the art form, it's not a striptease class. And it's for youth, ages 15-25. But, I'd rather not get into an argument about how inappropriate it might be, so I just told her I'm going to a theatre workshop.

Yes, I'm aware of the fact that it makes me a horrible child. But everything seems to freak her out. It's weird - she complains that I don't tell her enough, but when I do tell her things, she either gets personally offended, or disapproves of everything I do.

Edited to fix really dumb spelling error. I'm smarter than that, I swear!

 Part of being a teenager is becoming your own person and making your own decisions independently of your parents. Ideally a parent would understand and support that, but it's pretty common that they don't and dishonesty follows.

Just make sure you don't compromise your safety in asserting your privacy.

my mom and i have a great relationship, and i don't lie to her. then again i don't really have anything to lie about. i don't go out and get wasted or high, and i'm a pretty responsible person.

You're lucky to have a good relationship with your mom. I consider myself a pretty good kid (Don't drink, do drugs, or anything like that), but I definitely have my flaws. I wish I could get along with my mom better, I really do.

 I tell Granny I'm going to a nature preserve to volunteer and enjoy the woods for a week.

I tell my Mother that I'm going to a nudist gay hippie commune on work scholarship, to enjoy the "natural scenery" (she laughs), good food, unlimited marijuana, and listening to the drum circle while staring up at the absolutely beautiful stars and breathing the fresh air.

I miss that place, and I can't go like I normally do this fall because work is having issues.

When my sisters were 15 they were in to softball, basketball, and cheerleading.  They weren't into strip-teasing.  I don't believe leftymom would know normal if it slapped her in the face.  Or climbed on top of her daughter.

H5 from me.  I have three boys and if I found them doing anything remotely close, they would be the ones to get BS.  I can't fathom how anyone would consider this normal.  As far as I'm concerned, as long as MY kids are living in MY house, under MY care, protection and responsibility, their private life consists of whatever I say it does.
