Biden Dropping Out? Rumor Thrives on Internet
« on: September 24, 2008, 08:17:36 PM »
The GOP has a running "Joe Biden Gaffe Clock", there's two entries today alone, but both FR and the DUmp keep insisting that he may be on the way out:

Quote
It’s almost certainly just a case of the telephone game gone high-tech, but there’s an Internet rumor surging through inboxes and discussion boards that Joe Biden will drop out as Barack Obama’s running mate after his Oct. 2 debate with Sarah Palin — and that he’ll be replaced by Hillary Clinton on the Democratic presidential ticket.

The story line goes as follows: John McCain’s selection of Palin has generated so much interest in the Republican ticket that Obama needs to make a radical move to regain momentum. So in the days after the vice presidential candidates debate in Missouri, Biden will bow out, citing “health problems” (Biden underwent surgery in 1988 to repair two brain aneurysms). Enter Clinton.

Furthermore, the story goes, any damage the gaffe-prone Biden does during the debate will be erased by his abrupt exit.

from FOX News: link

the clock: http://www.gop.com/BidenGaffeClock/

I hope he sticks around for entertainment value reasons alone.

Rush wants to run an Operation Chaos type campaign to keep biden IN.

biden is the Republican's best friend.

I don't think it would be that easy if he replaced Biden with Hillary. He would pick up supporters but most people would call it a cheap political stunt and question his judgement. Which, they should have been doing all along but hey...

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Many of the pundits have suggested similar. It would definitely call into question Obama's judgement. Probably not a good thing in the eyes of most.

it would be a disaster for a normal candidate . . . but the MSM is already so heavily invested in covering for this guy that they would probably just continue to parrot his campaign's line on the replacement.

You're right, just like they're doing today with Obama's refusal to cooperate on the financial crisis.

One of the flatscreens at work shows CNN/Headline News all day long.  From my very informal census of the channel, the political coverage seems to be evenly split between Obama and Palin, with John McCain coming in a distant third.  Joe Biden was DNF some time last week.

Wouldn't you know it, the one that shows Fox was the one that crapped out.  I don't think they plan on fixing it unless they get an IPO or something.

hey, he agreed to cooperate after he refused to cooperate after it was his idea in the first place. :-)

I think that was the order that it went.  you need a score card to keep up with they guy.

Today Schieffer (CBS) was on a local STL show. He made a snide comment about being in the home of Thomas Eagleton, who was dropped as VP.

Hillary's phone would have caller ID.  She won't even pick up.

One of Obama's problems is he will not admit to error.  So he won't dump Biden, as that would be a confession he erred in the first place.

Michelle wears the pants just like Hillary did.  Michelle does the telling of who shuts the mouth and who obeys

absolutely true, and a good point.

Does this mean Obama is going to take Hillary to the vet?

I mean--have her vetted?

We should all call our local Dem HQ and tell them, "as a concerned life-long democrat, I am troubled by the rumors that an elder statesman such as Joe Biden might be dicarded."

Exit question: as so many hate Hillary for dragging out the fight--and Bill for being so nice to McCain--how will L'il 'O's own base react?
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."
