Does anyone have the transcripts from his speech?

Seems I've seen Roosevelt giving an address on the t.v. in that time period. t.v. was really new, but the president used it. That clip should be someplace in the archives. I don't know what he talked about though.

yes, we know Joe misspoke. What exactly is your point?

The point

If we can't laugh at ourselves then we have lost all humor.

Laughing at Biden's goof-ups?  Probably not the best thing for your health at the DUmp.

You have to try to be that stupid.....unless you're a DUmmy. Or Barack Obama's running mate, but I digress.

Dan Quayle is smarter than Joe "Hair Club for Men" Biden.

They were showing some recordings of the live satellite feeds of the sinking of the Titanic on A & E last week. This one guy who died looked just like Leonardo DiCaprio.

9. There was a crash in 1937 too

And FDR did go on tv at other points in his Presidency. TV came out in 1939, so it isn't unreasonable for Joe to have thought there was TV in 1937 too.

He did a broadcast from the World's Fair. It doesn't have to have happened alot in order for Biden to believe FDR would have done it after the stock market crashed in 1937.

22. FDR's 1939 World's Fair broadcast was historic: first time a president ever appeared on television

Biden misspoke. Its not a big deal. Concocting excuses for him that don't hold water doesn't really help. I guarantee BIden wasn't thinking about the 1937 crash. And if he knew anything about FDR appearing on TV, it would've been that his first appearance was in conjunction with the 39 World's Fair, not a stock market issue.

Again, its simply not a big deal.

Oh lord if Bush had said this there would be twenty threads.

25. Sure he did, but we don't know how much

And no, I really just don't think he said FDR got on TV after the 1929 crash. If he says he was that confused, fine, but I just don't think he meant that.

Just confused or tired....or maybe being a gaffe machine is sign of sooooooooper genius.  Just like sayin...stumbling in answering with err....ahh...I ....uhhh.  have never.....I think...uhh.... Is also a sign that a man is really thinking aobout an answere not that he doesn't have one.

26. My guess is that Biden was thinking about FDR's Fireside Chats, particularly this one:

http://www.mhrcc.org/fdr/chat1.html

FDR's first fireside chat, delivered via radio to the nation in eight days after he was inaugurated on March 4 1933, dealt with the "Bank Crisis".

Joe merely muddled up the date and the medium. No biggie.

Like the date, the event, the medium... but hey I think this fool would be great a heartbeat away from the presidency.

I really liked the animal house reference.

This whole campaign needs to lighten up a bit.

Only if it is the democrats making the gaffes.

27. Don't understand all the fuss. It's a metaphorical anachronism......   Updated at 12:41 PM

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I believe that Hilter's opening of the 1936 or 1938 (I'm to lazy to look it up) Olympics was the first thing ever televised, but that was in the midst of the Great Depression not at the outset

Well, he had promised a TV in every livingroom........hadn't he? ....or was that a TV dinner in every microwave? ......I get confused sometimes.

You publicly miseducated cretin.

The crash was 1929.

FDR was inaugurated in 1933.
