Vader does Tai Chi

Tonight was our second Tai Chi class. SR insisted on wearing his new Vader shirt, black of course. It says "YOUR EMPIRE NEEDS YOU"in blood red. He wore it to the zoo Sunday and got some very dirty looks.

The folks at the Tai Chi class are too mellow, no dirty looks. But I couldn't look at SR or I knew he'd get me laughing like crazy, especially at the end. The teacher put on her "local artist" flute CD. We did the first 6 poses from Tai Chi.

Although SR makes fun of it, he's actually pretty good. But he got annoyed when we started the class outside. He had on shorts (I had on long slacks) and the mosquitoes were out in force. Most of his exercises consisted of slapping those pesky skeeters from his legs.

I actually think the class is wonderful and there are some men in the class. It's not all chicks. It's very relaxing. For some reason my calves were sore after the first class. That didn't happen this week.

So peace and tranquility and all that stuff.

The form we do is Tai Chi Chiu. I have to keep watching and hoping SR doesn't make one of his smartass comments when the instructor starts getting off on all this lib talk. Poor thing was talking about her brother who's into meditation. I'm talking big time meditation. He'll go to some seminar in a far off corner of the world for a month or so, no talking, just meditating. She said she tried meditation for a week at some facility with an unspecified number of women. She said it was kind of funny, that many women and not a word spoken.  :-) Then she said she fell into a dark depression from all that meditating and found out she was manic/depressive and had to go on meds. Meditation, anyone?  :whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

But I think it's helping my knee and it's certainly relaxing. Laughter is the best medicine, even if it has to be repressed til after the class.

That might be a distinct possibility.  :-)

Or it might go over as much as a McCain t-shirt at the zoo. I get so sick of all the lib volunteers saying how they hate Bush and the eeeeevil Republicans. They hate conservatives (well, there are a few stealth conservatives in their midst).

When they started to get together one of these environmental whacko talk lines going that would be not so thinly veiled pro-Obama statements, I scared them with a simple little "do you want to lose the tax exempt status?" That shut them up quickly.
