Tuesday.
« on: September 23, 2008, 08:11:44 AM »
I never sleep well the first night my wife is gone on travel.  :p

She will be getting back home here on Thursday, but the first night is always a bitch.   And my retard cat Eddie woke me up at 5:30 this morning with this novel trick that he has discovered of sharpening his feet (Since his claws are long gone) on a cardboard box in the bedroom.
Cat got flung pillow. Box got moved.

We are into the "Good" weather here.  Sunny and high 70's low 80's, 60 some odd degrees in the morning. I am hoping the winter is a little less harsh than it was last year when it finally comes.  On the list of Things To Do Before Fimbulwinter Falls is buy a new snowblower.  My dinky little single stage Toro didn't pack the gear to deal with the amount of snow we got last year, so we are looking at a new two stage blower with a little more "Oomph" going for it.  We bit the big one and had a plow service do the absurdly long driveway during the 3 foot drops last winter.

I would have designed the house with a little less set back from the street if we had built from scratch.

Taking the Eldest to the Orthodontist today for the first leg of her Totally Cool Adventures In Braces experience. :-)  Midday appointment so I am keeping her out of school for the rest of the day and we are going to go mall-ratting afterwards.  My Mancub has been vibrating in place for 11 days now and counting off the days on the calender until this VERY date when LEGO BATMAN FOR THE 360 IS COMING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!1111111

Those were almost his first conscious words this morning. :)  It's nice to be able to spoil the kids a little. I was almost but not quite dirt poor growing up. We make them both work their butts off doing chores and menial tasks, but the perks are pretty good for them.

I'll join you in the "slept like crap club".  Bleh.

Need to run some errands today...the cats will kill me in my sleep if I don't get some more food today.

Parent meeting at dance again tonight to set up our first big fundraiser....Gourmet Apples...apples diiped in caramel, then chocolate, then sprinkled with toppings (like m&ms, nuts, whatever), the drizzled with a contrasting chocolate.   We make about 1600 of the darn things in a week, and sell them at the Apple Harvest Festival.

Football practice tonight, too.  They lost in a heartbreaker this past weekend.

I cannot imagine living somewhere where one is required to buy a "snowblower".   :lmao:

Snow-THROWERS, if you please.  And markers to mark the edges of the driveway.  I just bought 16 of them.

Maybe you need to live someplace where you actually NEED a snowthrower--you know, a place where you're already getting frost, like here?  BTW--did I show you the pics of my driveway from LAST winter?  They're predicting a COLDER winter this year.

Not to worry--I live on a tall, steep hill.  I should know, because COPS are down at the bottom every morning as I go to work.  COASTING down the hill will get you to 50 easily.  It's a 30 zone.  Revenue-enhancement agents will be standing by.

I'm caught up on reports...and trying to figure out what to do with my day. M suggested laundry or cleaning... :hammer:

We now both work from home and we each have our own office (thank God!) and he could do the laundry or clean just as easily as I can. He has started to do some laundry .....I have more undies than he does, so he runs out before I do...need forces him to do it... :evillaugh:

However...cleaning is a concept that he is not familiar with... :censored: His idea of helping is to vacuum the middle of the floor only and cleaning a bathroom is not going to happen!

I suggested a cleaning service....he said only if I pay for it....  :therock:  :censored:

My day started well.  I had my first algebra exam this morning and I think I did pretty well on it.  :)

Then I got to work.  At first everything's fine.  Then I look over what the cashier's sent over and it's messed up.  Then when I call over there the cashier hung up on me.   :censored:  So, I faxed over their screw up and she called me back all bitchy.   :censored:

The worst part is that the GM is going over there today to have a little pow wow over their money problems (which aren't my fault) and some other things.  I know that bitch is going to try and blame me for everything.

So, it's 2pm and I'm ready for a drink!

NCIS comes on at 8...a little eye candy may help. :-)

A little better.  I became a slightly better person and apologized to her for being such a bitch to her this morning.  Really, I know it'll come back and bite me in the ass if I didn't.  Alas, such is life.

I'm at work until 8:30pm.   :bawl:  I thought I worked late enough a few days last week and I was hoping that I was going to be able to leave at 7.  (Our pay week is Wednesday through Tuesday).  Oh well.

No drinking yet, though I told my boss that I'm contemplating bringing in a flask on Tues & Thurs since I work late and I'm the only one left in the office.   :-)

I bought two pairs of shoes in Las Vegas, shopped at Trader Joe's, ate at the Olive Garden, then spent a couple hours at the Red Rock Casino.

It was my first time inside a Trader Joe's, the last time I seem that much tie dye in one place was Woodstock.

Trader Joe's and Whole Foods seem to attract that Woodstock crowd---old libs (and young ones with lots of tats and piercings). Trader Joe's is more down to earth, and less expensive, at least around here.

Their canned dog food is relatively inexpensive. Darlene and Xena love it.

We went to our Tai Chi class this evening. I'll start a thread on it---SR was very funny. :-)

Home from work.  Started training in a new area of the store, and it's much better.  I also get more hours and paid a higher hourly rate than the cashier job I used to have.  :cheersmate:

The day started bad, though, when the water tank started leaking. A friend of mine was using my laptop while I was in class, and noticed the water coming from behind the door where the tank and A/C unit are, and texted me frantically. :o  Skipped the other class to get that taken care of.  Looks like maintenance fixed the problem while I was at work.  For once, they did something right without breaking something else. :hammer:

I need a margarita. *faints*

The prices at Trader Joe's were very good! Produce was about 1/2 of what I normally pay, and was really fresh. Plus, they simply have things you can't find anyplace else!

Trader Joe's is awesome!!! There is one where my sister lives and I've gone with her....could have spent forever in there!

We don't have a Whole Foods either...I haven't been in one of them...

I am sooooo deprived. :bawl:
