I am conflicted: Love Favre, Hate the Jets
« on: September 22, 2008, 10:06:51 PM »
I have been a Favre fan for his entire career.

And I have never liked the Jets.

I am really having a problem here.  I am looking for an analogy.  Maybe wanting to have your ex-GF "be happy" but hating it when you see her with her new BF?

I generally root for SD -- I was here when TD broke the record 2 years ago and they are a fun team in how they play the game.

Any and all advice accepted.

The Jets suck.   There is no way you can compromise your principles by rooting for such a team.

Look at it this way... once Favre is finally physically broken to the point where he can't drag himself back to a football field anymore (which, the way the Jets protect, will be soon), he will re-associate himself with Green Bay.  He'll be a Green Bay spokesman... his statues, murals, and memorabilia will adorn Green Bay's hall of fame and all of Green Bay's community watering holes.  If there's a football museum in Green Bay, Favre will be there.  If there's a ribbon-cutting in Green Bay, Favre will be there.  He'll never be associated with New York in any meaningful way.  It's like your ex-girlfriend realizing what a mistake she's made, her new boyfriend is a jerk and a terrible lay, and has now she's shown up at your apartment at 2 AM lit off her ass and hoping to score.

definitly right red....

Favre had a good wakeup call last night...

if brady were healthy, that would've came last week ....

and thankfully for favres sake, Merriman was out while  cromartie & hart had boxing gloves on last night ....or Favre would've tossed 5 INTs

I expect Favre to be GB's #1 spokesman in 2009 or 2010  or so.....

 I think you should start a countdown  & we'll track it !!

favre should've punched mangina is the head last night after he benched him.,....how friggen humiliating for favre...

being a Jet is humiliating enough, but then to be benched as a JET in a blowout  that you tossed several INTs in!!

I think you are right -- as they pointed out in the GB game is they (GB denizens) have short memories when it comes to their legends.  They quickly forget any foray out of GB.

I am curious what the GB gift shop did with that whole wing dedicated to Favre -- it was pretty good sized.

Favre GB jerseys still sell like hotcakes... Favre will always be remembered as a Packer, he just made a dumb, dumb, decision.
