Stabbing in the back is a little strong -- this is the chickens coming home to roost. bill and mrs. clinton were probably one of the most feared and hated people in politics. The democratoc power structure were PRAYING for something to unseat them.
The way they treated people was worse than the most uptight corporate executive in the 1920's -- they didn't just look down on people, they (the clintons) berated and embarrassed them in the most public way possible. mr. and mrs. clinton did that finger wag thing and shrill yelling (both of them) to anyone and everyone who didn't read their freaking minds. Their backwoods upbringing never left them, despite the pseudo-genteel veneer their education provided them.
When the messi-uh came along and the tipping point was hit (choose the moment: the swimmer or the OTHER philanderer endorsement), the sharp knives came out.
Of course, bj isn't one to take that lying down (this time, no pun intended). His (and her) motto until his (and her) dying day: "To the last, I grapple with thee; From Hell's heart, I stab at thee; For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee."
