People , there is NO EXCUSE for not showering daily ,
unless you are homeless ...

Sigh , there is no tactful way of bringing this to the attention of a friend.

1. FU! What if my power has been out for three days..
 :shakeshead:
You could try washing with cold water... Like I did for 4 days after hurricane Gustov.  It seemed to work as well as the other kind but I'm not Bill Nye the Science Guy so what the hell do I know.

33. I've lived in Europe, I know that they can take it to the extreme
But demanding that someone shower every day, as if that's some accepted norm that only a deviant would ignore seems a bit extreme.

7. That is not necessarily true.
If you use the right kind of hygiene products, you can get away with skipping a day.

Flushing the toilet uses up the most water.  Do you flush every time?

Kinda depends on individual body chemistry really, and diet to a lesser extent.  Some people could bathe every six hours and still have to wash down with cologne.  Other people can skip a day and nobody notices.  As long as it's not bugging anyone else it really doesn't matter.

That's true.  My daughter and I both smell like dying wet dog if we skip a shower in the summer.  It is so gross!  My son and hubby on the other hand could probably go 3 days before they start smelling bad.  I used to have a boss who would have to go into the bathroom and wash his underarms every couple of hours at work.  If he didn't he smelled so badly of BO that you would gag.  He used every product known to mankind too but nothing would stop that stink. :(

I'm curious about something.....where the hell did this meme come from that "water is a limited resource".......I mean 3/4's of the planet is covered with the stuff.......its not like we are ever going to run out of it.........does the phrase '.....matter cannot be created or destroyed, only changed in form......"  ring any bells?

I mean really folks....you flush the toilet, and the stuff eventually goes right back into the aquifer....certainly some energy is consumed getting it back there, but it is not like we are pumping it out into space.........

I've never been clear on what is the big deal about conserving water......as long as I can pay my water bill, or keep the well working , why should anyone care??

DUmmies, considering that trees are being cut down for paper products, I have a suggestion; when you take a crap, don't wipe, save some trees, your family will love you.

Stupid fu*kers.

Ya'll gotta remember, DUmmies don't break a sweat.

....and they ain't never really been in a position where they "couldn't" take a shower.....you know, like on the battle field, major catastrophe or working a disaster area. So, being nasty is their free choice or first amendment right.

That's the line that got to me too.  I think the Little Goons have the same idea about water as they do money:  Once it is spent it is gone forever - it floats out to outer space never to return.

I dare say I doubt if their is 10,000 gallons less water on earth today than there was on the day of creation.

Water is a limited resource in that it not equally available in all locations. Here in Albuquerque, we get most of our water from an underground aquifer. With population growth, the natural replenishment of the aquifer from rainfall and snow melt is less than the demand. Thus the quantity of local groundwater is declining and we must import water from elsewhere. The city government gives tax incentives to citizens who convert grass lawns to xerescape  and convert to low flow toilets (which are awful). Cities in arid climate often must import water.

That's fine.....don't live in the desert....problem fixed........that does not change the fact that there is no shortage of water, it is a distribution problem.  You chose to live in an area where water has to be hauled in from somewhere else, its a personal problem.  It certainly doesn't warrant foisting "Al Gore" toilets off on the rest of us that don't have a problem with the distribution.

I restate the original premise, there is no shortage of water, and it is certainly not a "limited resource" globally, we are actually swimming in it......so to speak.

I dont even know what to say. Even after reading DU for over 5 years they still manage to disgust me. I think a lot of the time these numb nuts are just trying to out do each other in anti-social behavior in some perverse sort of way. Maybe its all about imitating the euro lifestyle, I dont know. Id like to see a thread asking all the DUmmie wymen to chime in that braid their armpit hair, lol.  :rotf:

Unfortunately showering/bathing will not help some people with their odor.  There is a very embarrassing condition known as 'Bromhydrosis'.

These poor souls can bathe 3 times a day and still have horrible body odor.  I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Yeah, I know but I got to tell ya.....I have met people with bromhydrosis before and because not many people know about it they are treated very, very poorly.  Most think their odor has to do with hygiene.  Granted, there are many out there who have BO because they are lazy good for nothings who won't wipe their own ass ....then there are those who simply can't help it.

The only reason I know about it is because I have hyperhydrosis and I have come across it in research for cures.  I'll take hyperhydrosis ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I think I got a good idea of what'd be like to be downwind of UP this weekend.

Family I know in my church raises cats as breeding stock (they sell purebred Himalayan kittens for big money).  Well, I don't know if they just got busy with things and forgot or something, but sitting behind them, I had a friggin' headache from the BO the man of that household was reeking.  Sad to say it, but his personal stench smelled for all the world like cat urine.

I love my church, but I couldn't get out of that chapel fast enough yesterday.

If the DUmmies are really concerned about saving water, they should do something about it. Like put a pull chain valve on the shower head, pull the chain only when you absolutely need water. Isn't that what the US Navy has been doing for .....umpteen decades. Maybe do what I did, buy a pulsating shower head that restricts the water flow to 1.6 gallons per minute. Still feel like taking a shower is a waste....plug the bathtub, save your shower water, dip out tub and pour the water in the toilet tank. You do, at least, flush don't you?

Just admit it DUmmies. You're dirty, stinking, lazy, skanky, communist. If it didn't cost to much, I guess we could run thru the cattle dip once a month.

2 maybe 3 years ago I got in anto argument with a liberal over water, gas, CO2 all that crap and wasteful use. I played with the shower head in the bathroom and one day took a good shower in 7 quarts....that's 1 3/4 gallons of water. ...and then reminded him that he should save water for his favorite singers' Hollywierd mansion. The one that cries for mother earth but uses $20,000 a month in water at a house she's seldom in.

I am not trying to start a fight with you, nor am I disagreeing with your global premise. I am simply pointing out that water is not equally abundant everywhere. Living in a local where water must be imported  means I pay more for water than I would if I lived on the east coast. But I would rather pay more for water and live in the desert. I like living in the desert, its nice and relatively uncrowded with few restrictions on guns and lots of great places to shoot.

Sometimes I think that 'Smelly Hippy' is just a nasty stereotype and probably doesn't apply today like it did in the late 60's to early 70's.

Then the DUmmies go and prove the stereotype is apt with a post like this.
