The FBI is stepping up its investigation into the hacking of personal e-mail of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin by a University of Tennessee student.

A person who identified himself as a witness tells WBIR-Knoxville that agents with the FBI served a federal search warrant at the Fort Sanders residence of David Kernell early Sunday morning.

David Kernell is the son of Mike Kernell, a Democratic state representative from Memphis.

Laura Sweeney, a Department of Justice spokesperson, confirmed there has been "investigatory activity" in Knoxville regarding the Palin case, but she said there are no publicly available search warrants, and no charges have been filed.

A separate law enforcement source confirmed to WBIR that a search warrant was served on Kernell's apartment.

Hey, if you want to store your emails on the Internet and expect privacy you are a fool.

No one should be prosecuted, much less charged for something like this.

Local news at 6pm, said the FBI did a warrant search early this morning on the kid's apartment down near campus.

He wasn't there....his roommate(s) was having a large party at the time.....there were several witnesses, many who have already been subpoenaed.....the FBI was there "reportedly" for a couple of hours.....extensive looking at computers.


DU needs to update their info....dumb kid changed Palin's existing password to "popcorn"....his last name is "kernel"..... :thatsright:

o/t....

We had a default password that we used on some of our non-server/non-workstation networked devices while I was at Ford.  One of the plant managers changed all of his to 'popcorn1' so he could access them.  I thought that was pretty funny.  It's not like the default pw was extremely difficult to remember.

This kid is a 20-year-old man, and, one hopes, a soon-to-be convicted felon. Even though Tennessee is a reliably red presidential state (Gore's home state was more important in 2000 than Florida), the governor is democrat and the legislature is democrat. The state senate is Republican, but barely. It is nearly unheard of for a democrat politician or his family to be successfully prosecuted for anything in Tennessee state courts. The feds are a different matter entirely. They just finished indicting a bunch of democrat state senators in a clever sting, and have already convicted the ringleader, another Memphis democrat crook, like the father of this "kid". This "kid", if guilty, is a cruel and malicious criminal, and is in a heap of trouble.

He committed the crime in E TN which is predominately Republican. The news did say this will go to Chattanooga rather than here in Knoxville, but I haven't heard a reason why.

Judge Napolitano just said, on my classmate Martha MacCallum's show on FNC, that this Kernell idiot is going to be indicted tomorrow based on what his three roommates told the FBI.  Problem is, he probably is not going to get any jail time.

JAYD is one of those "low information" people. 

They're the stupid ones. Her password wasn't "popcorn". The "Kernell" kid changed it to "popcorn" after hacking her account. He also publicised Bristol Palin's cell phone number. That's the 'rats for you though, just brimming with class and ethics.
