Sunday. And it's quiet. TOO quiet...
« on: September 21, 2008, 09:28:00 AM »
Misty moisty morning here.  Ground fog that looks like it will be burning off slowly.

My daughter with the measured genius IQ is trying to finish a school project that she had several weeks to work on in the five or six hours she has free today and the three or four hours available this evening.  :whatever: :-)  She is building a cardboard Ziggurat right now and just realized that she may not have a way to paint it.  I'll give it an hour to reach the Gloom Dispair And Agony On Me part and then step in and help her.

Driving south and taking my Mom out to lunch today and then dinner across the village here with some friends. My college roommate and his wife and kids who live here and my OTHER college roommate and his wife and kids who used to live here but moved recently.  We all wound up living in the same place with our children about 6 months apart and in the ssame school.

And my arch enemy, Lawn! was soundly defeated yesterday by my brave warrior woman wife. *Blush* She cut it with the push mower while the rider was being dicked with.

Build a man a fire and he will be warm for awhile.
Set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life...

Sunday.  Beautiful day outiside.  We have a footall game this afternoon, and dance pictures as well.  This evening we are going to a friend's house for dinner.  I made deviled eggs to take with us.

Tomorrow starts another week.

Driving south and taking my Mom out to lunch today

That is awesome!

I am headed to work, to a job that I love. Today is my Friday.

Started taking Lyrica and it's really helping my neck pain and headaches.

My last set of x-rays, taken this week, show that my top neck vertebrae is no longer against the base of my skull. But there is still evidence of my two compression fractures in the cervical. But, that is life, a few aches, pains and 3 day long migraines won't keep me down!

Had a nasty work related accident last January and it's been a long haul, but it continues to get better. I used my time off to move from Illinois to Nevada. Once I was settled in, went back to work a little sooner then the doctors wanted.  I love working...so I spent ten minutes looking for a job and ended up with a really good one. Hundreds of applications, 70 interviews, 24 second interviews and I was hired.  :-) Can't tell you where, as I would be fired! It's a Fortune 100 company that is always growing and keeps me very busy.

Of course everyone tells me, there are no jobs here! :rotf:

I kept looking for morningAngel to show up with lunch again yesterday at work! She really is an awesome person.

I have absolutely no plans for today.  PBS is running their seasonal begathon, so there isn't much to watch on the TV.  I need to see if I can find a gas station that actually has gas for sale so I can get to work tomorrow.

I may make something with the leftover half-a-chicken in the fridge.  Chicken salad sounds good, or maybe soup.

I paid 3.53 yesterday for gas.

I can't even FIND gas.   :banghead:

I was hearing rumors at work Friday and Saturday about the Elusive Gas Station With Working Pumps.  I drove down Old Hickory Blvd for four or five miles and didn't see shit in my neighborhood.  Same goes for my drive to work in the other direction.

No gas shortages here.  I filled up Tuesday, I think I paid $4.09/gallon for diesel.

 :bird:

Diesel is the only thing I've seen that's available.  I'm seriously thinking my next car should be a diesel even if I wind up driving an old Mercedes.

42 mpg.   :-)

I read that Honda is brining out a diesel.  Hopefully VW can start bringing in more diesels, we have a waiting list for the Jettas we have coming in.

They're supposed to be putting one in the 2009 Accord @ 52 MPG.

Honda builds some great engines.  I've never had a Honda that wasn't anything but perfect.

Yeah, it'll be the 2009.5 model.  But again, they may have them, but never have any in stock, like the hybrids or VW with diesels.

Since Hondas never brought diesels to the US before, I'd be slightly wary of them until the second model year.

Plenty of gas here @ about 3.75 average, but it still hurts to fill the 6 up... (damn 18 gallon tank.  Why did Mazda go and do that?!  :hammer: )

I wish Mazda could have diesels.  A diesel version of this would be wonderful:

Today was an average workday.  I did find out that they want to train me for a different area of the store, where I'll get plenty more hours.   :hyper:   I start Tuesday.

I stopped filling my gas tank up every time, and started buying what I need to get through a normal week.  I went from spending $40-50 for a fill-up to $20-25 a week.  It helps if you're boring and predictable like I am.  I only drive to work and back.

I should probably start doing that.  I AM capable of getting one tank to last a month, but with all the unexpected trips I've been making, I should change that routine. :(   I usually just drive to work and back anyway, and if I need anything, I get it on my way to work, or after leaving work.

It doesn't help that I have to actually drive out of the way to get to a frickin' Wal-Mart (Mom sends a gift card now and then to help me out when I need it).

Meh, I'm not all that impressed.  I've grown fond of the new Mazda 6 (in the sangria color scheme, in that pic I posted). :uhsure:

M and I are getting over a touch of food poisoning from those damn meatballs I did yesterday in the crockpot.
Not sure if it was one of the bags of frozen meatballs or the "Classico" brand tomato-basil sauce...but am really glad we only ate them as a snack!!! They have been thrown out, along with the other jar of sauce I bought.

Gas is $3.39 up at the corner.....this is the gas station that was $5.00 on Monday. ::) Guess getting reported drops the price in a hurry.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

I headed to my brother's house this evening.  Turns out the last of the family went home today, so there's a ton of cheesecake and only us to have it.   :-)

The chocolate marble was delicious.  My brother's going to freeze some and I'll pick up my share next weekend.

I watched the first half of the Cowboys/Packers game over there.  What's funny is when we're cheering we both say the exact same thing at the same time.  My SIL was upstairs and said it was so funny when she heard the two of us.  LOL!

Oh and my 7 year old nephew was trying to figure out how his dad can me 10 years older than me and that we're both in college right now.

Audis are nice! (But as a Mazda owner, my loyalty remains with them :p ).

A very attractive young man living in my apartment complex has an older model black Audi TT coupe with an NRA sticker on it.   :naughty:

Maybe if my current relationship doesn't work out....  :uhsure:
