Going Through A Hurricane
« on: September 19, 2008, 08:14:22 PM »
Last week at this time, I was going through Ike. Granted it was just a Category 2 hurricane at landfall with large areas of Category 1 winds. You can hear the loud howling winds and rain. Also, you can hear the debris hitting the ground and transformers exploding and creating bright flashes that look like lightning. Going through a hurricane is torture, like having a bunch of large needles inserted into you one at a time. I would never wish it on my own worse enemy.

No, I am fine and everything is back to normal for the most part. Thanks for the offer though.

Not a problem dude.  We are all in this together.  I'm only 70 miles north of Houston and we just got power back today.  If you end up needing anything let me know and I'll do what I can to help you.

Lot of other people in Texas need help. Truly tragic situation for everyone affected by Ike.

Absolutely. I expressed my dread for a monster hurricane last year at CU and my fears came.

Hopefully this doesn't happen again anytime soon.  *hugs*

We have been helping as many as we can on this end but I don't mind going where I'm needed.  I have been helped before and it is nice to pass it on.

I have been thru many hurricanes so I can relate. My dad was operated on for a broken hip 1 day prior to Gustav. The hospital generators keep everything on except the AC. They got full power on day 3. He will be in a therapy nursing home for the next couple of weeks.

I did not have any damage and hope that holds true for you.

My aunt had her kidney tumor out and was released from the hospital the Saturday before Gustav.  They didn't evacuate for that.  It was tough for her to evacuated for Ike.  They did of course, and she loaded up on pain pills for the drive.  They're staying up here for a while before going home.  1. once she gets home she'll feel the need to start cleaning and doing much more than she should and 2. there's electricity here.

We have been truly blessed with the weather for Ike.  Rita ..... wow, that was a whole other story.
