Trump's trying to do the Kennedy Center what he did to the East Wing.

There was sufficient space on the grounds of the WH to build an alleged ballroom. But Trump "justified" knocking down the East Wing with spurious and unfounded claims that the structure "looked like hell" and had been heavily altered over time. He admitted so much on a FOX interview with Laura Ingraham.

In real life, the Kennedy Center is literally falling apart, https://people.com/kennedy-center-reveals-ceiling-collapsed-grand-foyer-photos-12109408 . Decades of neglect have brought it to the point that it must be decided whether it's worth repairing or better rebuilt.

As for the East Wing, did the ironically self-named no_hypocrisy howl in protest when in 1942 FDR tore down and rebuilt TR's original 1902 East Wing?
