It really has been a while since we've had a migrant caravan on the way to the US border. I can't remember the last one that made it through. I don't think there have been any since Trump took office. ...

But this week there are fresh reports that caravan of several hundred people has entered Mexico from Central America with its sights set on the US border.

Newsweek says the Caravan started out in Honduras on September 20th.

As usual, these are economic migrants, not legitimate asylum seekers.

That is what the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleges. For decades, the phrase “equal opportunity employer” was code for “employer that discriminates in the approved ways.” Under the Trump administration, the EEOC is finally fulfilling the role that most Americans innocently thought it was pursuing all along.

Last week, the EEOC commenced a lawsuit against a Youngstown, Ohio, hospital and physicians’ group:

The EEOC’s suit said the surgeon had a successful practice with Mercy for many years and performed well, including exceeding Mercy’s productivity goals. However, Mercy subjected the surgeon to antisemitic remarks throughout his employment and ultimately fired him in November 2023, advising him that he was being terminated for a reason other than work performance. During the surgeon’s employment, Mercy also subjected him to unfavorable treatment which interfered with his practice because of his religion and race, the EEOC charged.

“... He was also excluded from scheduled meetings and had his surgery time blocks reduced. Shortly thereafter, he was terminated and told it was for ‘no reason,’” said EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas.

His mistreatment intensified after 10/7/2023, which was when this process started.

Top Aide Accuses Anaheim Mayor of Racist Remarks and Workplace Harassment

The top aide to Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken has accused her boss of making racist remarks, repeatedly questioning her sexuality, and engaging in workplace harassment.

The allegations were made in a September 11 letter sent to the city attorney by Aitken’s chief of staff, Berenice Ballinas. The four-page letter, signed by Ballinas’ attorney Lawrence Lennemann, seeks mediation with the city ahead of possible litigation.

According to the letter, on multiple occasions, Ballinas drove Aitken home from city functions after the mayor had consumed alcohol. Aitken allegedly said she did “not want her car driven by a dirty Mexican,” the letter states.

Ballinas also claims that Aitken questioned her sexuality in front of a group of people during a visit to Disneyland back in June. According to the letter, Aitken also made derogatory comments about a Disney worker’s perceived sexual orientation and ethnicity, leading at least two Disney employees to complain about the mayor’s behavior.

The letter states that former Anaheim City Manager Jim Vanderpool engaged in similarly inappropriate behavior while he was employed by the city. It further claims that Anaheim officials have retaliated against Ballinas, including by withholding a pay raise that had previously been approved.

Some of the allegations look like they can be verified or falsified by third parties; at least one appears to be she-said--she-said. Relevant or irrelevant, Aitken is up for reelection this year.
