So a Mormon showed up at the house

Not to convert me.

The SO is a professional caregiver.

She cared for this guys Dad for two years until he passed away a month ago.

We had a terrible storm in Erie last week.

The mayor declared an emergency.

We took a direct hit.

The house survived intact, but 4 huge trees in the yard were blasted by lightning and 80 + mph winds, the cyclone fence was smashed, the steel shed was flattened, and the backyard huge above ground pool as well.

You could no longer see the yard itself, waist high debris.

So this guy, retired Coast Guard, showed up to help. I'm 69, he is a couple years older.

5 other people promised to help.

He was the only one who showed up.

We started at 9 a.m..

Around 11, I was hoping he would stop to take a break.

He did not.

I did

We didn't stop until 5 p.m..

We hauled it all out the alley to the street by hand.

9 foot high 50 feet long 10 feet wide on the curb.

My voice was an octave higher the next morning.

He didn't mention religion once the entire time, except when I thanked him and told him he was the only one who came to help, he said something about "sharing gifts".

I think he was probably feeling like I did the next day, but he didn't complain the whole time he was working.

The city picked the debris up yesterday, 2 Mack truck dump trucks full, loaded with a huge skip loader.

The guy was rather slim and lanky, but from his endurance I wonder if he was a rescue swimmer in the Coast Guard.

You find out who your real friends are.

Disclaimer - I am not a Mormon, was raised Catholic and will never be a Mormon.

It didn't matter

We didn't talk politics either.

And I have met people in this website who have helped others and myself without expecting anything, so I want to say thank you to them as well

They know who they are.

End of rant.

It's quite telling that they think this is noteworthy.

Poor attempt.

Didn't even mention the bushes or what jumped out of them...

The roads were blocked so the tranny's were late getting there!

I wonder what the story would have been if the people who showed up were wearing MAGA hats. :lmao: :loser:

is most likely why he stuck around and helped. Give it some thought.
