Hunter Biden's surprisingly simple answer as to "why I used"

From his Substack:

People ask why I used. The honest answer nobody wants to hear is, because it worked. At first it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It quieted a fear I had carried since I was a kid. Then it became the answer to everything, until it was the only thing left.

1. My friends who use and the now former users all said because it felt good.
Which is what Biden is saying. It worked because it made him feel better/good. When you're in pain or going through some other stressful event, you could easily turn to what makes you feel better (food, sex, booze, drugs, other). Some people do.

I've been friends with a woman 43 years who only stopped using a few years ago. Love her to death.

I was in love with a man (a long time ago) who started using and it ruined our relationship - bitterly so.

23. He had a pretty overwhelming trauma as a very young child.
That's got to make the world feel VERY unsafe.

If you think Hunter had it bad, you should read what happened to his sister Ashley.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

1. It quieted a fear I had carried since I was a kid sounds less stupid than, I was stupid and could get away with it.

2. Does anyone fully believe his usage of past tense?
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

Deep down, I have a certain empathy regarding drug addicts (alcoholics fall into this classification as well I thing) who by any other measure would be everyday people. Maybe applying my own brand of logic steers me wrong here, but it seems that most common people who wind up like this start out using the shi* for pain relief, be it physical or emotional. And as is almost always the case, people doing it for these purposes end up trashed, stuck there, or eventually dead. I can't imagine anyone setting out to purposefully transform themselves into a drug addict. There is always some sort of underlying problem at the root of it all with some exceptions. The rich kid syndrome, for example... who starts out just doing it for fun and has no other limits or controls would be one of those exceptions, and likely where Hunter Biden falls if I had to take a wild guess. By all accounts made public, HB appears to be almost as big of a crooked, criminal piece of shi* as his father, and you can't trust him any further than you could throw him.
