Quote
Just 38 percent of Americans have high confidence in higher education, according to a new Gallup poll. That’s down from 57 percent in 2015. Gallup found the three main reasons for this lack of confidence are political agenda, cost and not preparing students for a future career.

This is a stunning—and much-needed—fall from grace.

Many schools and politicians spent decades pushing ever more kids into college. Sen. Bernie Sanders even sponsored the “College for All Act.” It was endorsed by numerous left-wing groups, including the American Federation of Teachers and National Education Association.

People have turned against higher education because they are leftists echo chambers. It is also too expensive. Is it worth even going to college?

Most who went and spent a fortune for a useless degree would have been better off going to a trade school. :thatsright:

I read the other day that most of your socialists have 4+ year degrees but are financially downwardly mobile. I wonder how many are indoctrinated and unable to prosper from that indoctrination versus how many are running to the socialists because they are drowning in student loan debt.

The proliferation of useless degrees started, IMO, with universities creating ______-Studies programs and majors back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. What career path is there for a person with a BA in Eskimo Studies or Ambi-Sexual Walnut Studies?

The other side of the coin, though, is that starting in the latter half of the 1970s(?), employers decided they wanted grads with degrees directly relevant to the employers' business. BAs in liberal arts major - History, Literature, Philosophy - even if not politicized or sexualized were not in demand. To the degree universities even recognized this shift, they doubled down on the un-demanded majors.
