Philadelphia's D.A. Krasner Keeps Getting Bad News

https://hotair.com/david-strom/2026/06/19/philadelphias-da-krasner-keeps-getting-bad-news-n3816084

Quote
Most of the mainstream media isn't spending much effort to cover the slow-rolling collapse of Soros-prosecutor District Attorney Larry Krasner.

At least I HOPE it will be a collapse, as judges turn on Krasner not so much for his soft-on-crime policies, about which they can do little directly, but for his office's illegal tactics used to help convicted murderers get out of jail.

I wrote about decision #1 yesterday, in which the Democrat-dominated Pennsylvania Supreme Court blasted Krasner's office for lying to the courts about deficiencies in trials for convicted murderers, conceding—falsely—that prior D.A.'s had committed errors (or worse) in pursuing convictions of murderers.

By doing so, they gave what amounted to get-out-of-jail tickets to murderers. With convictions vacated, Krasner's office did not give up the right to retry the cases, but it's pretty hard to expect that an office that committed what amounted to perjury to help convicts overturn their convictions would then pursue the subsequent cases with vigor. A...

The Supreme Court was not amused, and essentially defanged Krasner's office, allowing the Attorney General of Pennsylvania to intervene in cases as required.
...
Now comes round two: a federal court just sanctioned one of Krasner's former attorneys who was in charge of this program, barring her for three years from cases before the court.

Nancy Winkelman was suspended for three years by a panel of federal judges who found that she was complicit in efforts to mislead a federal judge while seeking to overturn the death sentence of a man convicted of killing an East Mount Airy couple in the 1980s and allow him to serve life in prison instead.

As anyone who has watched hare-brained goobernors' serial moronicity knows, the is no such thing as a "life sentence". A stroke of a goobernor's pen can release the most heinous whomever.

Wishing a Summer-Long Rash on Libs Who Complain About Knicks' White House Visit

The New York Knicks ended more than half a century of futility by winning the NBA Championship last week, defeating the once-vaunted San Antonio Spurs in five games. Although I am a huge sports fan, I don't have a lot emotionally invested in the NBA; ...
...
One would think that all of those fans could throw aside petty politics and enjoy the end to their frustration with some extended revelry. Ah, that's just not the way that grievance-seeking leftists do anything though, is it? Even the simplest joys have to be tainted with politics and dissected for any grievance potential.

It is customary in the United States for professional and NCAA teams that win championships in the major sports to be invited to the White House to meet the president. For a long time, it was simply a nice custom and honor that athletes got to enjoy. Now, it's a political hot potato for the virtue-signaling left that also happens to be devoid of any real virtue.

Frothing Trump Derangement Syndrome leftists see the White House visits while President Trump is in office as opportunities to do what they do best: throw tantrums. These insufferable grown-up toddlers pitch fits and demand that their beloved teams avoid going to the White House because they don't like the guy in charge. Sadly, some athletes play along with the madness.

As the Knicks are a New York team, the odds on a lot of their fanbase being comprised of obnoxious lefties were always pretty high. Before the Knicks even had their long-awaited victory parade, the whining about a potential White House visit began. ...
...
There were a lot of lefties spreading misinformation online about the Knicks having declined the invitation. James Dolan, the team's owner, has known President Trump for a long time and the president is a Knicks fan, so that was never likely. When Dolan confirmed that the team would indeed be going to the White House, the lefty fans got right to the diaper-filling:

I have no doubts that many/most/all Knicks players voted against Trump. Unlike DU-grade Progs, they seem to be able to set their partisan feelings on the shelf long enough to enjoy the honor of being guests in the White House with a long-term Knicks fan.

Wisconsin Supreme Court strikes down race-based college scholarships

The Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down a state-funded scholarship program Thursday that awarded financial aid to college students based on certain racial categories — a decision that drew praise from conservative legal groups.

Dan Lennington, an attorney at the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, which represented taxpayers in the case, celebrated the ruling as a “major win.”

“Wisconsin Supreme Court holds that [Gov. Tony] Evers Admin cannot offer scholarships based on race. This is a huge win for equality & provides a ROADMAP for Wisconsin Taxpayers to challenge many other programs worth BILLIONS,” he wrote on X.

Sarah Parshall Perry, an attorney and vice president of Defending Education, also praised the ruling in an X post Thursday.

“The way to stop discriminating on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race,” Perry wrote. “Wisconsin got the message. Their Supreme Court just ruled the governor cannot administer scholarship opportunities based on race.”

The key here is the state funding. This ruling does not speak to orgs like the UNCF.

Tom Hanks' brutal insult to MS NOW reporter in shocking on-air outburst at Obama library opening

https://www.dailymail.com/media/article-15912255/tom-hanks-ms-joke-viewers-800-shot.html

Quote
A-list actor Tom Hanks took a surprise shot at MS NOW while attending the ceremonial opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on Thursday.
...
MS NOW Senior National and Political Correspondent Jacob Soboroff was streaming  live and approached Hanks.

'Great to see you,' Soboroff said, eagerly attempting to get Hanks' attention.

The actor appeared busy, but eventually acknowledged Soboroff after some light pestering.

He broke the silence with a quip: 'What can I do for the 800 people watching MS NOW?' - a nod to the network's waning viewership.

'Oh, come on. We're live on MS NOW,'  Soboroff said, putting his hand on Hanks' shoulder before offering a smile.

'All right - add a zero to it,' Hanks said in a dead-pan tone.

Ummmmmm ... OUCH!
