Three Women in Maine Prison Join Lawsuit Alleging Harassment by Trans Inmate

Just last month I wrote about an incident like this in Scotland. A trans woman who was being kept in a women's prison there was charged with sexually assaulting fellow inmates. Also last month, a woman serving time at a prison in Windham, Maine filed a lawsuit alleging she was sexually harassed by a trans inmate named Andrea Balcer.

Katie Mountain is serving a 10-month sentence for violating probation at the women's prison in Windham. In a lawsuit, she said she is bunking with Andrea Balcer, a transgender resident at the prison.

In that lawsuit filed on Thursday, Mountain alleged that Balcer has subjected her to graphic sexual stories, trapped her in the bathroom, forcibly kissed her and made repeated threats of rape and impregnation.

The lawsuit also alleges that Balcer told Mountain, "Don’t worry, if you don’t wake up, it’s because I smothered you with a pillow.”

Yesterday, three more female inmates at the same prison joined Mountain's lawsuit, claiming they too have experienced Balcer's harassment.

In the updated suit, inmate Jennifer Albert alleges Balcer “subjected her to unwanted sexual contact,” including one incident that involved digital penetration while Albert was suffering from a back injury.

Inmate Michaela Sargent, using masculine pronouns, claims Balcer “routinely harassed her with graphic threats of rape and exposed himself to her.”

Danielle Foster, in the suit, charges that Balcer stood naked in her room while she slept and suggested doing “things” to her in her sleep. Foster also said she was forced to witness other transgender female inmates exposing themselves.

“All four women allege that when they reported these incidents or refused to affirm Balcer’s gender identity, they were met with retaliation,” Dill wrote in a press release. ...

A male claiming to be a woman in order to get potentially intimate access to real women? Who could not foresee that?!

SPLC Wants Indictment Thrown Out For “Vindictive Prosecution”

The latest development is that SPLC has filed a Motion to Dismiss the Indictment for Vindictive Prosecution, focused very heavily on public statements from Trump and others in his administration both before and after the indictment.

From the Motion:

President Trump’s triumphant statement on April 24, 2026, three days after an indictment was unsealed against the Southern Poverty Law Center (“the SPLC”), was the latest manifestation of a top-down, retributive campaign in which he directed his Justice Department to go after those individuals and groups he deemed his political enemies, including the SPLC.

To carry out the President’s directive, others in the Administration targeted the SPLC, which now faces criminal charges for exercising its First Amendment right to identify, report on, and criticize extremist hate groups. The Administration has falsely accused the SPLC of being “anti-Christian,” of aiding the Biden Administration’s “weaponization” of the Department of Justice, of participating in political violence, and, most recently, of helping to “rig” the 2020 election against President Donald Trump. These examples of this Administration’s animus over the past year culminated in the criminal charges against the SPLC—an indictment premised on conclusory accusations but devoid of provable facts or a proper statement of the law….

EXCLUSIVE: Former Minnesota employee reveals suspected fraud scheme of ‘fake injuries’ at Somali businesses

It’s perhaps yet another kind of Somali fraud that we haven’t heard much about, and one that may involve fake businesses, fake injuries, and fake workers’ comp claims.

Janeen Balsimo retired in the fall after working as a Minnesota state employee for nearly 30 years. She joined Liz Collin on her podcast.

Balsimo spent her last years at the Department of Human Services (DHS) in the Tort Recovery Unit as a tort specialist.

She said that she wanted to blow the whistle on workers’ comp cases after what she noticed the last couple of years at her job—as hindsight and the exposure of fraud throughout Minnesota provided even more perspective.

Balsimo explained how she “recovered taxpayer dollars where another party should have been paying for the bills. For instance, like auto accidents or work comp. So we would get cases from attorneys representing the client.”

However, she noticed a strange trend emerging in her normally routine work. “About a year ago, I can remember my caseloads of Somalian cases were going way up. They were going up so much I even confided in another coworker. She had noticed it as well,” Balsimo said.

She said “that’s when I noticed my Somali cases, they all worked at a daycare center, an adult care center, a hospice or an autism center. And I found that really strange and they ended in the LLC because I had to keep typing it over and over and it was just really strange to me.”

“Then I retired a few weeks before the Nick Shirley exposure … and one day I was watching a video and I noticed the names of the businesses he was investigating. And they looked really familiar. Like I almost remember the name of the businesses just by typing them all the time and just dealing with them. And I could not believe it … it all came together, Balsimo said.

“Out of my just work comp cases, because we have other types of injury cases as well, I would say it seemed like 50% of my work comp cases … were Somali cases,” she recalled.

She said it amounted to hundreds of cases, if not more.

“It’s unbelievable the extent of the fraud. It’s actually really disturbing. And it makes sense. I mean, our taxes so high over the last seven years. You know, the taxpayers are the ones that are suffering for this fraud and just everything that’s going on in Minnesota right now,” Balsimo said.

However, when Alpha News reached out to DHS to ask if there is any type of investigation into workers’ comp cases, a spokesperson directed Alpha News to Minnesota’s Department of Labor and Industry (DLI).

Neither DHS or DLI directly answered if anyone is investigating Balsimo’s concerns. Instead, DLI explained how the workers’ comp system in Minnesota operates and ...
