Al Green Finally Met a Ballot He Couldn’t Impeach

Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) finally met a vote he couldn't table, stall, scold, or impeach. Christian Menefee (D-Texas), the current U.S. representative for Texas's 18th Congressional District, defeated Green in the Democratic primary runoff for the newly redrawn 18th District.

It wasn't even close; Menefee won 68.6% to Green's 31.4%, with 61% of the vote counted when the race was called. For anybody tired of Green's endless impeachment theater against President Donald Trump, the result brought the rare political pleasure of watching voters reach for the hook themselves.

Menefee didn't suddenly appear; before entering Congress, he served as Harris County attorney, where he built a public profile in local government before winning the January 2026 special election to complete the term of the late Rep. Sylvester Turner (D-Texas). ...

Green finished any suspense about where Democratic voters in the new district wanted to go; he had seniority, history, and name recognition. Menefee had momentum, youth, and a cleaner claim on the district's future.
Menefee now faces Ronald Whitfield, the Republican nominee, in November. The district remains heavily Democratic, so Menefee enters the general election as the clear favorite.

Still, Green's loss carries a wider lesson: voters may tolerate political theater for a while, especially when it becomes wrapped in party loyalty, but repetition eventually starts to look less like conviction and more like a habit nobody asked to inherit.

Green got stomped by about a 2-1 margin, maybe by a greater margin. Green down, Cornyn down, Trump-Haters had another bad night.

EXIT BRIAN O’HARA, STAGE LEFT

I have probably written too much about Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara over the past few years. I thought he willfully sold out his department in the various pattern-and-practice civil rights cases brought against it by the state and federal government. He agreed to absurd consent decrees that followed on those cases, although the Trump administration nixed the federal consent decree. To top it off, he supported Deputy Chief Katie Blackwell in her self-immolating defamation lawsuit against Alpha News while trashing Alpha News in the process.

Yesterday O’Hara resigned as chief ahead of his firing by the mayor who has stood by him through all of the above. O’Hara was found to have interfered in an investigation of his alleged sexual misconduct. The details of the sexual misconduct are vague. A friendly source has kindly forwarded a copy of the investigative report as redacted.

I thought that O’Hara was a spineless weasel. The department remains far short of the legally required number of officers. Who in his right mind would go to work for the department?

Weasels are likely to continue being the head of the department and normal citizens ill protected.

For RINOs this year, May was the cruelest month as MAGA voters primaried those who defied their orders.

In Indiana on May 5, Republican voters rejected six of the seven incumbent state senators who defied the desire to redistrict the state’s congressional map to send two more Republicans to Washington.

In Louisiana on May 16, Senator Wild Eyes Bill Cassidy finished third in the primary meaning he won’t be in the runoff primary that will decide the nomination. Cassidy voted to convict Trump in the second impeachment. MAGA impeached and convicted Cassidy.

In Kentucky on May 19, MAGA voters sent Congressman Thomas Massie packing. He’s headed to the Libertarian Party where he belongs. He’ll replace Jill Stein as their perennial losing presidential nominee.

In Texas on May 26 (last night), MAGA voters toppled Senator John Cornyn in a runoff against primary against Ken Paxton, the state’s attorney general. The race was close until Trump endorsed Paxton. That blew Cornyn off the map as Paxton beat him by 27 points.

The media is lying when it frames the issue as Trump’s revenge against perceived enemies.

This is MAGA voters flushing the commode. The electorate has had it with politicians who promise voters everything but give them Dem Lite.

WASHINGTON — A sex therapist who vowed to force “American Zionists” into federal immigration detention centers — where many, who she claimed are also “pedophiles,” would be castrated — was soundly defeated in a Texas Democratic primary on Tuesday.

Maureen Galindo, whose “insane, antisemitic views” were denounced by members of her own party, lost to opponent Johnny Garcia in the Lone Star State’s 35th Congressional District runoff, 59.5% to 40.5% when the Associated Press called the race at about 10:40 p.m. EST.

Wow, Galindo only lost 60-40 ... says a lot about Dem voters in that district, not good things.

With all of the focus on Iran and Lebanon, readers may wonder what the situation is on the third ceasefire front – Gaza. The situation looks remarkably similar, where Iran and its proxies refuse to actually comply with the terms of the ceasefires to which they agreed, and are similarly nonplussed at the fire that hasn't ceased as a result.

In Gaza, however, that may be a secondary issue. The primary issue is that Israel has no intention of letting anyone with responsibility for the October 7 massacre to survive. And so today, the IDF took out the military chief of Hamas in a strike on a Gaza City residence. Mohammed Ouda didn't even get a fortnight to celebrate his promotion:

He joined al-Hadad, Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif, Mohammed Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, and other top Hamas officials who Israel has assassinated since October 7, 2023.

It took several decades, but Israel took out every Arab Pali who participated in wiping out Israel's Munich 1972 Olympic team. Their progress wrt the 10/7 murderers and abductors has been quicker, so far.
