The "Not A Day Thread" Thursday thread.
« on: September 18, 2008, 07:26:27 AM »
Finally getting into some cooler weather here. 50 now low 70's later. I spoke with a bud down in LA last night and they are still dealing with the ungodly temps and humidity, so I am pretty happy to be home.

We get to go to parents night at my daughters school tonight for her volley ball team.  They introduse all the players with their folks.  She is all nervous and excited because we haven't seen her play yet.  Schedules have been absolutely bugshit insane and they have only had one home game so far.

Today is going to be catch up time for house work and I need to lay out events for three upcoming conventions.

Lot of running to do today. I'm getting ready with the laptop open. hair--check,  makeup--check, oops, gotta get dressed :uhsure: :-)

Seriously though, have to go to campus, get a book I need, go fill out a form for the 2nd time :censored: that shoul,d have been done, and then I have to run the total opposite directly about 45 minutes and have a yearly meeting with my son's caseworker for the services he receives(the autistic one). I guess I'll make dinner, do some laundry, and workout in there somewhere. Little one will be with me most of the day and I'll have to take him to preschool late because of that other appt. Up side, he'll probably get Mickey D's cause we'll be out all day...down side...I'll have to eat that crap too.

Ok, I'm done bitching...I feel like poop today too btw :bawl:

done...

Just loaded some new music on my Mp3, and I'm getting ready to get some stuff done around the house.   Also gonna put some stuffed peppers in the crock pot for dinner tonight, since we have a full evening schedule.  That way, everyone can eat when they have time!

Big day in our house yesterday...my little girl got asked to Homecoming...her first date.  Mr Flame is not amused.

Holy Hell!!!

My little girl is going "Stag" to hers with all her friends.  Unless one of them gets a date and then they will all turn on her in a big harpy cloud of jealous rage. But for right now their plan is "Safety In Numbers".

I'm going to shop around for the worst taxedermy mount of a Boars head that I can find and mount it over the gun safes.  I mean something torn up and NASTY looking. When her dates come over I can wrap an arm around their necks and haul them over to look at it while I show them the rifle that I hit it with initially and the K-Bar knife I used to stab it to death when it tried to get up during the field dressing part.  This will be a nice segue into the description of the private land up north that I hunt on with nothing around for miles and miles and plenty of places to bury things in the middle of the night. :-)

You just brought a smile and a memory....back in the days of only one phone in the house and my world turning upside down....when the boys started to first call when I was in junior high....my dad would answer the phone ...."Charlie's Pool Hall"......they would stammer and say wrong number. Call back....and he'd say ..."It's still Charlie's Pool Hall" and hang up. I was mortified!

Thanks asdf.....for reminding me a something funny and good....<<<<hugs>>>>

The original plan was to go with her friends, but they all got asked by boys.  She has talked to me about this particualr boy before, so he's not completely new to the picture.   Good thing is, no one is old enough to drive so there will be plenty of supervision!

Well, my wife (lucky her) has the day off. I, unfortunately have to work until 9, so my day's shot pretty much. All I've done was take care of the boy, cleaned up a tad, and found a lost pooch (half Golden Retriever, half Husky) to a lady that lost him this morning. I was just having a smoke outside, and he came right up to me.. really friendly dog. I guess that was the high point of my day.

It's been so long since I've had a day off during the week.  I feel like I'm skipping school and I'm not supposed to be at home right now.

Off to the bank and the dealership and to fiddle around with the carbs on the bike to see if I can smooth out the idle.

Went to the eye doctor yesterday, she said both of my eyes are looking good so I can stop the dilation and reduce the pred forte to every four hours (from every two hours).  She said it can take about a day and a half for my eye to go back to normal (the dilated eye).  In a week I go down to three times a day, then the following week twice a day, then the week after that once a day for a week then I'm done.  I have gone from seeing her every other day to once a week until I am finished with the steroid eye drops.

Even after my experience with UVeitis 15 years ago, I didn't think it would take this long to get over it.  Though it took MONTHS to get over the first time, I didn't think this time would take so long because it wasn't half as bad as the first time.

Now that my vision is getting better (it is still fairly blurry but better) I feel more like doing things around the house.  I have a huge pile of laundry to do and my house is a friggen mess.  Now I know how the elderly homes get so dirty, they can't see the dirt.

Calm down, dads. The girls know your tricks and forewarn their dates.  :lmao: They may even relay of story of shopping for the Boars head, but we'd never tell our daddy's we knew the truth.  :-)

Oh, as for the big harpy cloud of jealous rage. Damn straight!  :censored: :-)

*I can only joke because my girl is only 10--I know I'll get mine soon enough :thatsright:*

Also back from all my errands...2 hour line in financial aid to fill one bloody form out :thatsright: Didn't get my book because of that wait and that I had another appt so more gas tomorrow down there to get the book :banghead: Well, at least I'm home...another 15 minutes of peace(I think I got 30 in all) and then I'm off to do the afternoon running to pick up children(3 in 3 different places :censored: :-)) The plus side to all this, my 4 yr old was a real trooper during that wait and some very sweet alterna/skateresque girls in front of me let me go ahead of them knowing I had an appt across town to get to and that my meter was almost out. Yay for today's version of the girl I was 20 years ago :cheersmate:

I'm happy for her...he sounds like a nice kid (and he's <gasp> younger than she is!) by exactly 1 year.   We are going dress shopping tomorrow evening (well, pattern and fabric shopping...a friend of mine offered to make her a dress).

I went to class this morning.

I came into work and there's just a ton of stuff to do.  It's one of those things where I'm not even really sure where to start.   Sigh.

Also, a little bad news.  A former co-worker passed away earlier this afternoon.  She was found unresponsive yesterday around 11:15am by her home nurse aide and sent to the hospital.  She never really woke up and was on a respirator.  She finally gave up her battle this afternoon.  She's in a better place, there's no kidney disease in Heaven.

I'm sorry to hear about that Mia :( Scares the tar out of me too since along with diabetes and now heart problems one of my younger brothers is also on dialysis for his non functioning kidneys. I know I'll lose him young, but I just hope it is a lot later then expected.

Damn.

Condolences Mia.

My Mom called me this afternoon and told me her oncologist gave her a squeeky clean bill of health.
Two years since she had her double-m and her last outbreak with the breast cancer.

Thanks Jty, Deb and asdf.  I wasn't particularly close to her, we were acquaintances and she was a lovely lady.  Her health just took a sudden downturn about a year and a half ago and she's only 67.  She was an very independent minded lady.  The worst part is her niece had moved in with her.  She's not a very nice lady.  She wasn't even there today when my co-worker passed away because she "has things to do."  The niece was just taking advantage of her, when she was supposed to be helping and caring for her.  She'd already asked people yesterday if she could have the van if the co-worker died.  What a horrible person.

Just got home.  I'm pretty much done with my current employer.  They have cut my hours back to 12...yes, you read that right, 12 hours for one week.  :censored: Not acceptable, especially given the fact all the high-schoolers who are still living with mommy and daddy are getting more hours than I am.  Those brats don't have near as many bills to pay as I do, plus, most of them were only hired in the last 3 months.  :whatever:

I put in an application on the recommendation of two co-workers/sisters for a new Japanese restaurant that opened up a couple months ago.  If they can offer me better hours, I'm leaving the current employer.   I also have an interview with a particular bookstore chain, so we'll see where that goes. ;)

You wanna move to Texas?  I can get you a job as a cashier for a parts/service dept. of a dealership.  The downside, when you screw up, it's me that calls.

LOL!  How I would love to move away from here and be closer to my Louisiana family.  But I chose radiography, so I'll be here awhile longer.

My till usually manages to stay close to perfect (sorry, gotta brag there :p ), though there are the occasional days in which $3 or $4 is missing.   :uhsure: I've gotten enough grief from co-workers who tease me, as I get highly irritated (my perfectionist side appears) when my till is off because it can take awhile to figure out where that money went, or where the heck it came from (when there's more in the till than there should be). Usually, it's the coupons that trip me up (as there are STRICT rules on those).

Sometimes, well usually at least 3 times a week, I wonder if those girls over there even know how to count money.  Or how if you don't take money in on something you don't stamp it paid.   :whatever:
