Am I losing it or what . . . ???

I had an experience today that is troubling me more and more. I hope I’m just too damn paranoid. But if I’m not . . .

Here’s the story.

We are in our 80’s, moved into a small apartment in Northern Virginia from a spacious home we built in rural Virginia 18 years ago. Wife does not get out much at all.

Today I returned from grocery shopping and doc’s appointment to find her watching the movie “Nuremberg” on Netflix. The movie was at the point where Goebbels was being questioned by the US prosecutor.

Remember – Hitler was preceded by the Weimar Republic, which was not unlike the US – three branches of government, functioning judiciary, elections, and the like. The Great Depression hit German especially hard and Hitler rose to power by, among other things, blaming the Weimar Republic for Germany’s deep, serious economic distress.

The Goebbels character said something like – and this is not a quote but it’s the best I can remember – “The Weimar Republic was weak and pathetic . , , , ,”

Damn if I didn’t flash back to last night’s Trump speech in which he described preceding administrations – specifically Biden – using the same words – “weak,” “pathetic.”

As I recall, Trump first wife – who is now resting peacefully in the rough at his Bedminster Golf Resort – is quoted as saying Trump kept a copy of Hitler’s speeches at his bedside.

Did I hear the words of Hitler and Goebbels come out of Trump’s mouth? Or am I losing it in my old age??

That's interesting. How was the prosecution questioning Joseph Goebbels? It would have to be at a seance since Joseph, his wife Magda and their 6 children all died on 1 May 1945 due to poison or suicide by pistol. They weren't around to be questioned during the time frame of Nuremberg.

The movie "Nuremberg" actually follows the interrogation and trial of Hermann Göring, commander of the Luftwaffe and Hitler's second-in-command. I guess that to someone who thinks everyone who disagrees with his political POVs is a Nazi, all Nazis look alike.

But Hollywood sure does.
I just watched the new movie "Nuremberg" only to be reminded over and over again about 6 million Holocaust deaths.
That was certainly a horrible, factual atrocity.
But so were the deaths of 60 million other people in WW2. The fire bombing of Dresden, the vaporizing of tens of thousands of civilians at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Nazi brutalizing of Soviet soldiers and citizens were also "crimes against humanity."

Hey, Israel: We ALL have been victims.
Just ask the Cherokee. Or the Ukrainians who died in Stalin's Holodomor.
Or the Catholics burned at the stake by Protestants and vice versa.
And the victims of brutal American slavery in the so-called "Land of the Free"!

He watched "Nuremburg" and was disappointed that the movie focused on the Holocaust?  What the Hell did he think it was about?  And then he tries to minimize what happened to the Jews under Hitler as not that bad.  After all there have been lots of bad things that happened throughout human history.  So, hey you Jews, shut up about the Holocaust.  Compared to some of the other horrible things that have happened in the past you were treated with kid-gloves by Hitler.  Only one DUmmy reponds intelligently to this post:
