Obama campaign money
« on: September 17, 2008, 10:09:04 PM »
Sen. Barak Obama is spending money like a drunken sailor. He has a very large campaign staff, and is doing ad buys all over the place. His campaign has just raised another 9 million by having a large fund raiser in Hollywood with the entertainment elite. While he is raising more then McCain, he poll performance isn't matching with his effort. Meanwhile, his poll numbers in some states that shouldn't be in question, New York and New Jersey are dropping and New Jersey is starting to look like a battleground state.

I see why the democrats are getting nervous, Obama isn't getting results from all the money he's spending.

I saw data this week that the Nobama has already spent almost 400 million.  Maybe America cannot be bought?

It's not that you can't make an impact spending money, but the effect of spending it is not linear.  Obama is blowing huge wads of cash now for seriously-diminishing returns.  Because he has had such huge (mostly free) publicity on the front end, it is heavily devaluing the bucks he spends on the back end.  McCain and Palin are in the opposite position, ignored by the press until the convention and the announcement of Palin's selection, their campaign money can be applied synergistically with fresh press interest.

Isn't this the standard post-Clinton Democratic campaign plan?  Rely on the press for early buzz, reel in lots of cash, burn it right after the convention, believe your own press releases, and then fade like a sprinter in a distance race as the Republicans rely on organization and efficient ad placement?

Geez, it's like the Battle of Mogadishu over and over.  Sure, you've got the numbers and the passion, but you don't have the discipline, the accuracy, or the intelligence to pull it off.

Those who see their lives as spoiled and wasted crave equality and fraternity more than they do freedom. If they clamor for freedom, it is but freedom to establish equality and uniformity. The passion for equality is partly a passion for anonymity: to be one thread of the many which make up a tunic; one thread not distinguishable from the others. No one can then point us out, measure us against others and expose our inferiority.

we may get outplayed in the organization and groundgame departments this time.  The BarackStar! has a massive staff, and is apparently well organized in all 50 states, which is one of the reasons it costs him so much.

of course, then the question becomes, with this great organization, why did he lose in PA, OH, IN, FL, & etc., etc.

That Organization is sucking down the dollars, and it still cannot catapult him into a large lead. Meanwhile he's sucking all the money out of the democratic machine leaving other democratic canidates hurting. We'll see how this plays out.

I have laughed this week, whenever someone trips over the fact that McCain is leading in polls in Florida by 5 points; yet has been outspent in campaign ads in that state by Teh Obamessiah - $8 million to NOTHING.

Not exactly true...I see ads on McCain frequently, probably more so than Obama.

See the other campaign finance thread, there's a link that shows it to be like a third again more for the messiah.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.
