So, I DDGed "child loses eye ice". The only story (from two sources, one an obvious activist site) I found even somewhat resembling the BlueSky claim was:
Anti-ICE protester suffered severe eye injury during clash, group sayshttps://ktla.com/news/california/anti-ice-protester-suffered-severe-eye-injury-during-clash-group-says/Friends say an anti-ICE protester was severely injured after being shot in the face with a less-lethal munition by a federal agent during a clash outside a federal building in Santa Ana.
...
Video shows protesters lighting an American flag on fire outside the building. At least some were affiliated with Dare to Struggle, a far-left activist group inspired in part by Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong.
During the confrontation, one protester was dragged away by officers. Another, who had been near the burning flag, ran toward the group and appeared to be struck in the face by a less-lethal round. Blood was visible on the person’s face as they were pulled away.
... . A Dare to Struggle member read a statement from the injured protester, written from a hospital bed.
“I had to get surgery on my eye. I was told that my tear duct was destroyed. My lower eyelid was so damaged they needed to take skin from my temples to repair it. My eye had sunken, the globe ruptured, and flaps of my eye were barely holding on,” the statement read.
* This person was a protester, not a random passerby;
* This person was/is part of an organized group;
* This person and fellow-members were actively attacking Federal officers who were protecting Federal property;
* This person was shot while running toward a melee (i.e. not hit while not moving by a precisely aimed shot);
* This person's age was not mentioned, though I suppose 20-somethings are occasionally referred to as "kids" (the equivocal term used in the DU post).
