Records show Minnesota hasn't done effective daycare fraud audit in decade

Audits conducted over the past decade have found that Minnesota lacked the ability to properly verify attendance records and pursue potential fraud within its childcare assistance system.

The findings have drawn renewed attention amid national scrutiny of Minnesota following allegations of widespread fraud involving childcare networks in the state. The issue gained prominence after independent journalist Nick Shirley released a video showing visits to multiple daycare centers, largely within the Somali community, that appeared to be empty or not in operation despite reportedly receiving public funding. Federal and state investigators began reviewing the centers highlighted in the video.

According to a report by CBS News, the federal Office of the Inspector General released an audit in May of last year examining 200 randomly selected childcare assistance payments from 2023. The audit found dozens of instances in which “Minnesota did not comply with requirements related to attendance and payment for services.”

Forget child safety, forget verifying claimed services, the State of MN was an ATM machine that gave cash willy-nilly to genuine service providers and fraudster alike.

Geez, every company of a decent size I've ever worked at has a yearly outside audit. That's standard practice to catch such malfeasance. Haven't worked for the goobermint as of yet and likely never will, but that sort of track record really reveals how piss poor that Minnesota has been run. The rot runs deep.

It looks like justice has finally decided to visit some of the Minnesota fraudsters who've enjoyed spectacularly luxurious lifestyles during Democrat Gov. Tim Walz's time in office. One of those fraudsters, Aimee Bock, 44, was a ringleader in the Feeding Our Future scam and, boy, did she enjoy flaunting the fabulous life she acquired off the backs of hard-working taxpayers.

All that is coming to a screeching halt after a judge ordered Bock to surrender a treasure trove of luxury items that someone on a typical non-profit salary would never be able to afford (see also: the aforementioned hard-working taxpayers). A judge signed off last week on a preliminary forfeiture order requiring Bock to cough up, among other things, her Porsche Panamera, a diamond necklace, her Louis Vuitton purse, and around $3.7 million in cash and money squirreled away in various bank accounts.

The forfeiture of her luxury lifestyle comes after Bock was found guilty last March on federal charges of wire fraud, bribery, and conspiracy in connection with what has been called "the nation’s largest COVID-19 fraud scheme." She's currently awaiting sentencing, but can keep herself busy for the time being handing over all those fancy toys she loved to flaunt.

It comes all crashing down.

The Feeding Our Future scam got exposed several years ago, with quite a few persons in on it having been tried, convicted, and sentenced. It was a separate scam from what is currently being exposed, but it was part of the cultures of fraud and goobermental negligence/corruption in MN.

The chances that a fairly full investigation of CA social programs will expose fraud that dwarfs MN's are all but certainty.

I'm not expert on Somali family names, but "Aimee Bock" sounds white European to me. An AWFL?
