MILWAUKEE —A jury on Thursday found Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan guilty of a federal felony charge that she obstructed or impeded a proceeding before a U.S. department or agency, while acquitting her on a misdemeanor count tied to concealing an individual from discovery and arrest.Her defense team released this statement shortly after the verdict was read:"While we are disappointed in today's outcome, the failure of the prosecution to secure convictions on both counts demonstrates the opportunity we have to clear Judge Dugan's name and show she did nothing wrong in this matter. We have planned for this potential outcome and our defense of Judge Dugan is just beginning. This trial required considerable resources to prepare for and public support for Judge Dugan’s defense fund is critical as we prepare for the next phase of this defense."...On the prosecution side, interim U.S. Attorney Brad Schimel asked that people keep politics out of the case and the verdict. He said this was not the government trying to make an example of Dugan, but was instead a serious matter they felt necessary to pursue.

Bovine!I guess Minneapolis area residents are not so uber-Blue that they would jury-nullify a clear violation of the law. And their deliberation was quite brief, meaning that the evidence and the pertinent laws were very clear.
Milwaukee, not Minneapolis, my friend. Two separate major northern U.S. cities, neither of which is the capital.With the apparent conclusion of this sordid tale, the Democrat party is hardest hurt. Their policies are garbage.
It was pretty clear last night that Judge Dugan's defense team wasn't done. Sure, they lost on one felony count of obstruction, but they intended to appeal that. But Wisconsin Republicans aren't waiting around. Today Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Assembly Majority Leader Tyler August offered Judge Dugan an ultimatum: Resign or be impeached.Quote“Last night a Milwaukee County Judge was convicted of a felony for obstructing the United States government. Judge Hannah Dugan, while wearing judicial robes of the State of Wisconsin, attempted to impede the lawful work of federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.“Under Article XIII Section 3(2) of the Wisconsin Constitution, ‘[n]o person convicted of a felony, in any court within the United States, no person convicted in federal court of a crime designated, at the time of commission, under federal law as a misdemeanor involving a violation of public trust and no person convicted, in a court of a state, of a crime designated, at the time of commission, under the law of the state as a misdemeanor involving a violation of public trust shall be eligible to any office of trust, profit or honor in this state unless pardoned of the conviction.’“The last time a Wisconsin judge was impeached was in 1853. If Judge Dugan does not resign from her office immediately, the Assembly will begin impeachment proceedings.
