I wish Obama didn't have to spend so much time fundraising

He's going to have to scramble for money for the next 6 weeks. I'm not saying he made the wrong call on rejecting public funding for the general election, but there is definitely a downside.

WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has canceled an appearance at a New York rally next week after organizers blindsided her by inviting Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, aides to the senator said Tuesday.

2. Good for her!

I'm so glad that she did that. And screw the organizers for doing that to her.

6. Awesome.

The media would have been running clips of their appearance alongside that SNL sketch.

But good on Clinton anyway for not legitimizing Palin further.

3. Hollywood

Didn't take much time to raise a ton of money there! LOL. I would just stay there.

4. That money they're raising may make the difference down the stretch.

Plus, it's not like they aren't still out there campaigning.

5. He made the right call. The RNC can raise more money to help McCain than the DNC can raise to help Obama. He absolutely made the right call. Also, it is not like he does not have time for his regular campaigning. Heck, McCain is still doing fundraisers to raise money for the RNC. What's the difference in Obama raising his own money?

7. How sad, what a reflection on the way we do things here...I heard Hubert Humphrey say that the one thing he hated about politics was that he had to go around begging for money. And that it took so much of his time.

Humphrey was a great progressive from Minnesota. Perhaps sometime we can talk about him here. But he said that 35 years ago. How little things have changed. The numbers are different, the problem exactly the same.

Clinton baling out on the rally is simply Hillary taking advantage of an excellent opportunity to stick the shiv in Obama's short ribs.  She has a plausible reason, but the effect is going to be letting Palin have an unchallenged shot at a key voting bloc in a region that is no longer safely Blue.
