Just had my own "Karen" encounter in grocery store because I was trying to help someone

I saw a woman and child outside a store and went to give them some $ then asked if I could get them anything from inside. The woman answered, "milk?" So, I asked them to come inside with me and get what they needed. I expected to spend $200 or so, because that's about what it costs to fill your cart. We are inside, she keeps asking if things are okay, milk, eggs, bread, butter, all basics.

About this time a woman comes up and asks if she can "show me something over here," and she takes me aside and warms me about scammers. Yeah, lady, I know, I can tell if someone is a scammer, and, I told her, "They are not scamming, I offered." Well, she can't quite take that, so she proceeds to take a photo of me and the woman (I don't 'recall giving her permission so hope she doesn't post it, LOL), but she is on a tear now and gosh darn it, going to do something about it! The horror. A woman buying groceries for another woman with a small child.

She took time to tell the store clerk all about it, and how awful, and you should chase these people away from your store. The poor woman I'm helping was so sad. Her English was pretty good but not great, so it broke my heart a little to go from such a joyful state to now sad, because someone just cannot stand the thought of helping another. I told the clerk that the lady was wrong and I had offered, so no scam going on here. So that's my story, and I won't stop helping when I can.

That wasn't a Karen but just an idiot ... if this in any for happened.

A true Retail Karen:

* Demands random customer take them where the store has ______;

* Screams at the random customer to stop being lazy and "do their job";

* When told, "I don't work here," screams, "Stop lying";

* Demands to see the customer's manager;

* When the store manager confirms the customer does not work in the store, screams, "Stop covering for your employee";

* Usually has to be dragged from the store by Security;

* High-Test Karens slap the customer and get arrested by police after viewing the security camera video.

All that I got out of the made up story is that this DUmbAsses is saying, without realizing it, that Trump has the economy running so much better than SloJo and KnobGobbler did that it can afford to just give money away.


Oh, one other thing... If you're an active member of DU, I don't know that any normal person can really take you serious when you claim: I can tell if someone is a scammer.

Basically, this is a "look at how great and good I am compared to the rest of you normies" story. This tale had more to do with the OPs alleged virtues rather than bad ole Karan.

  In 5 decades of shopping at, variously, Kmart, Sears, Ward, Home Depot, Lowe's, Target, Costco, and Walmart I've never had a Karen experience. My plan, if I ever do, is to say repeatedly and in increasing loudness, "I don't work here!" until a manager and/or security person shows up, being ready for the Karen to try to take a swing at me. And if I happen to be using a cane (which I do not, currently), well, their knee(s) will be bruised or worse.

But there is a karen in this tale:

  I will admit that that is a typical Karen line. Karens tend to forget that that every retail store has 50 billion cameras watching every square inch of the store's property.

This is an aside from the story, but this got me thinking. The Democratic Party's rhetoric reminds me a lot of the things scammers say, like imploring us to take action now (before we have time to think about it), or saying they'll solve some problem... if you give them more money and (re)elect us.
