Why oh Why

I'm from the south so I know that I sound like a country hick, but why do major companies, such as ATT, have people taking calls in customer service and billing with an accent so heavy that they make me sound understandable and sophisticated?

Apparently, it doesn’t always pay to be an honest person. I had DSL through ATT. A month or so ago, I got notice that they were doing away with DSL and replacing it with ATT Air. I contacted them to send me whatever I needed to make the switch which was an all-in-one deal that they call an All-Fi Hub, but they sent me two All-Fi Hubs. I installed one and left the other in the box. I have to admit that my experience with this “air” service has been better than expected. Near the end of September I called ATT to find out what I needed to do with the second unit that was shipped. The lady that I spoke with then actually spoke English much better than my country self and told me to just take it to my local shipping store and that they’d take care of it for me with no charge. The next day I found out that my only shipping store has been recently shut down for an unknown amount of time due to an illness. All that leaves me as an option is the FedEx drop off service that runs out of our local Walgreens so I’ve been talking to every non-English speaking individual who works at ATT to try to get them to send me a return label for it. I should have just stuck it in the closet.

To top it off, yesterday, I got a bill for a full month of ATT DSL even though I made the switch to ATT Air just two weeks into the month. That non-English speaking individual told me that best he could do was $15 off. By the time I got through ranting and raving he was magically able to get it so I only paid for the two weeks that I had service.

Sorry for ranting.
