What Happened During an ICE Enforcement Action on Chicago's Southeast Side?

One enforcement action. Two accounts of it. Which one is right, which is wrong?

First, CNN.

US Border Patrol agents pursued and crashed into a vehicle as part of an immigration enforcement operation, leading to an angry response from community residents and the deployment of tear gas in Chicago’s far southeast side Tuesday.

The tense standoff exemplifies tensions in Chicago over immigration enforcement as the Trump administration is trying to move National Guard troops into the Windy City.

The incident unfolded when a white SUV hit the side of a red SUV, sending it backwards through the intersection before it crashed into another vehicle, video captured by a nearby resident showed.

Same incident, Fox News report quoting DHS.

"This morning while conducting an immigration enforcement operation in Chicago a vehicle, driven by an illegal alien, rammed a Border Patrol vehicle and attempted to flee the scene," a DHS spokesperson said. "Border Patrol pursued the vehicle and was eventually able to stop it utilizing an authorized precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver. Once the vehicle was stopped, the suspects, who are both illegal aliens, attempted to flee on foot. As Border Patrol arrested the subjects and attempted to secure the scene a crowd began to form and eventually turned hostile and eventually crowd control measures were used."

NBC Lays Off 150 "Journalists," Sacking Its Black, Latinx, and Gay DEI Unites "NBC BLK," "NBC Latino," and "NBC OUT"

They're slashing their payrolls in anticipation of spinning off basket-case MSNBC from also basket-case NBC "News." Also, they hate blacks and gays. Anytime you take an action adverse to the interests of any blacks or gays that means you're acting out of "hate," right? Right?

NBC News eliminated its teams dedicated to covering issues affecting Black, Asian American, Latino and LGBTQ+ groups as part of its layoffs of about 150 staffers on Wednesday, according to two sources familiar with the matter, a significant culling as the Peacock network separates from its sister news network, MSNBC.
The cuts mean that the verticals NBC BLK, NBC Asian America, NBC Latino and NBC OUT will no longer have dedicated teams bolstering their coverage. The verticals will continue to publish stories related to the specific groups and NBC News may ultimately retain up to five staffers who will contribute coverage on the verticals to the newsroom, according to one source, as the dedicated teams focused exclusively on these verticals are sunset.

I’ve also tried to shine a light on her backing of radical left causes. From an astonishing network of funding orgs to serving on the boards of left-wing foundations to indirectly supporting the “Stop Cop City” domestic terrorists in Atlanta, Abrams’ fingerprints are all over the progressive left.

Now, one of her largest organizations is folding — and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving entity. In January, I wrote about how Georgia’s State Ethics Commission hit Abrams’ New Georgia Project with the largest fine in state history:

“The Georgia State Ethics Commission announced on Wednesday that it would fine New Georgia Project and New Georgia Project Action Fund $300,000 for its hidden use of dark money during Abrams’ first gubernatorial campaign,” reports Ben T. N. Mause at NOTUS. “The group illegally raised over $4.2 million, then poured over $3.2 million into efforts supporting Abrams’ and other Georgia Democrats’ elections, paying for flyers, organizing field offices and hiring thousands of canvassers who knocked hundreds of thousands of doors.”

The New Georgia Project has enacted at least three rounds of layoffs since the 2024 election. Abrams has distanced herself from her brainchild in recent months, and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) has also backed away from the organization.

“The cuts had long since gutted the project’s mission to build a statewide ‘multiracial, multigenerational, cross-class movement’ aimed at expanding Medicaid, raising Georgia’s minimum wage, overturning abortion limits, and fighting voting measures it deemed restrictive,” Bluestein writes.
