WaPo Termination Letter to Attiah: We Fired You For Being a Raging Racist

Yesterday, Attiah launched her new Substack after being fired by the Post, and claimed that the newspaper simply couldn't handle the truth. "I am the one being silenced," Attiah declared, "for doing my job. ... I believed in using the pen to remember the forgotten, question power, shine light in darkness, and defend democracy." She claimed that the Post fired her "without evidence" and "without even a conversation," claiming that they had excised her as "part of a broader purge of Black voices from academia, business, government, and media."

In other words, Attiah called the Post raaaaaaaaacist.

And rather than roll over for that, someone leaked her termination letter to Oliver Darcy. At least according to the Post, Attiah suffers from a colossal case of projection on the issue of racism. Moreover, they inform her that she had been warned about her performance as well as her race obsession in the past, and that her fulminating over whites in the Charlie Kirk assassination was the final straw:

The WashPost doesn't like being slandered? :rotf:

Karen Attiah, SIPA ’12, lost her jobs at SIPA and The Washington Post. The journalist says it brought her a ‘sense of grief.’\

Quote
In the span of just over a year, Karen Attiah, SIPA ’12, lost roles at her alma mater and a company she worked at for 11 years: one, as an adjunct professor at the School of International and Public Affairs, and the other as a columnist for The Washington Post.

Attiah taught a course on race and journalism at SIPA in spring 2024. But in summer 2024, SIPA did not renew her course for the following spring—the typical timeline for adjunct faculty at SIPA, who are appointed on a semesterly basis—which took her by surprise, she told Spectator in an interview. Just over a year later, after more than a decade of writing and editing for the paper’s Opinions section, The Washington Post fired Attiah, alleging “gross misconduct” for social media posts made in the wake of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s assassination the day prior.

To Attiah—who said she was the only remaining Black full-time opinion columnist at The Washington Post at the time of her firing, and one of three Black women whose spring 2025 courses were not renewed by SIPA—losing these jobs was not just personal, but reflective of greater threats to academic and press freedoms.

Sounds like that Columbia Spectator article is whining about Columbia not renewing Attiah's one-time class but can't quite get around it not being renewed because it had been funded with one-time money.

The article mentions her 2024 participation in anti-Israel actions, but can't quite get around the fact that Attiah had been hired to teach a 2025 class.

I see from the OP article that Attiah launched a Substack news/opinion outlet some 9 months ago. Have DU folk been citing her yet? Or have they racistly ignored her?
