I think I read on another conservative board that we are not suppose to have any empathy for those that are touched by water, as they should not live there in the first place. What were those people thinking?
As for Tuesday, just like any other day, life is really great.
They don't even have empathy for our troubles here, and we definitely don't live near water. Well, I guess you could count the Muddy Mississippi, but it's about 25 miles from here.
That Ike was pretty bad here. Going to complain now---the tree guy finally came after waiting 2 days for him. It's going to be between $800 to a thousand. And that's not even taking it all down. My fence has a small gate and they can't get their equipment in with the bucket that would raise them up so they can cut easier and quicker. He's going to have to get a "climber" in---a guy to climb up the tree. It's very high and very dangerous with some huge limbs about ready to split. I'm glad there aren't many trees left, just 1 Bradford pear, 1 pine and 1 silver maple (that's going to be drastically cut down). Oh, well, it's only money that's not going to be reimbursed by the insurance company. Drat.
The coast lines seem to get 24/7 media coverage. I know with Gustav they must of showed the same blowing palm tree for three days straight! Yet, when there are storms in the midwest, coverage seems to be minimal. Take Kearney, NE for example, 9 twisters in one night, and just a brief mention on the news.
It seems while others have lined up for FEMA money, and other assitance, on top of having insurance coverage for the same loss, often getting more then they were entitled to, there are also many like yourself having to pay out of pocket, even while having insurance coverage for such things.
It seems silly, but if you left the tree, until it fell on the house, creating a bigger loss, then it would be covered!

I agree, it sucks.
