“There's so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional. Most of them don't get to go out on their own terms on top, and that's where I'm at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.

I know, not a lot of metalheads here, but Dave Mustaine is a thrash icon, loved, hated, and tolerated by many, some of the last two coming from him being more right leaning than most.  Assuming there's no reunion tour immediately after the farewell tour (like keeps happening), it's the end of an era.

The way Dave Mustaine and Megadeth have gone through musicians and lineup changes, I find it hard not to think of them as the Dave Mustaine Band.

Oh, yeah, it's always been the Dave Show.  His ego is typically high on the list of reasons why people don't like the band.  But their impact on metal is undeniable.  Even haters rank Peace Sells and Rust in Peace as top tier influential albums.  I'm not up on the last several albums, but they will probably be working their way into my playlists now.
